Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A290 Blean Common, Blean, CT2 9JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 Blean Common, Blean from 20:00 hours on 28th April 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 29th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 123 and 139, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 Blean Common, Honey Hill, Pean Hill, Clapham Hill, A299 Thanet Way, A2 M2 J7 Roundabout, Brenley Corner, A2 Boughton Bypass, Dover Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, London Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road,Tile Kiln Hill, Blean Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury, CT2 8AB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 23rd April 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 24th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with St Peters Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 St Peter’s Place, St Dunstans Street, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & NO LEFT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic, southbound only, on part of A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, in phases from 23rd April 2026, with estimated completion by 16th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

Phase 1

The left turn from A299 Thanet Way Slip Way onto Church Lane will be prohibited.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, back around roundabout onto Church Lane.

Phase 2

A2990 Thanet Way will be closed southbound only, between the junctions with Boorman Way and Church Lane.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and Church Lane.



B2205 Canterbury Road, Whitstable, CT5 4HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 Canterbury Road, Whitstable from 21:30 hours on 6th May 2026, with estimated completion by 05:30 hours on 7th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 32 and 36, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding HGVs & large vehicles) is via B2205 Canterbury Road, Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street, Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Bennells Avenue, Herne Bay Road, A2290 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill and vice versa.

The alternative route for HGVs and large vehicles is via B2205 Canterbury Road, Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street, Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Bennells Avenue, Herne Bay Road, St John’s Road, Whitstable Road, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Anvil Green Road, Waltham.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Anvil Green Road, Waltham from 6th May 2026 with estimated completion by 7th May 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed west of the junction with Kake Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Anvil Green Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road, Anvil Green Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne, CT3 1UZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Littlebourne from 8th May 2026 with estimated completion by 9th May 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside numbers 58 and 62, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, B2046 High Street, Adisham Road, Station Road, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Chalkpit Hill, School Lane, Station Road, Bekesbourne Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Lane, Waltham.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Waltham from 5th May 2026 with estimated completion by 6th May 2026, between hours the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 200m east of Barthlomews Church, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Whiteacre Lane, Woods Hill, Richdore Road, Church Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Edward Road, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Edward Road, Canterbury from 21st April 2026 with estimated completion by 22nd April 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Lower Chantry Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Ham Shades Lane, Whitstable, CT5 2JL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ham Shades Lane, Whitstable from 10th May 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ham Shades Lane, Church Street, Castle Road, Queens Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Hardres Court Road, Upper Hardres, CT4 6EL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hardres Court Road, Upper Hardres from 7th May 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Rectory Lane, heading 1340m southwards, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Bossingham Road, Curtis Lane, B2068 Stone Street, Street End, Hardres Court Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Ivy Lane & Love Lane, Canterbury.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ivy Lane, Canterbury from 21st April 2026 with estimated completion by 22nd April 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

Ivy Lane will be closed between the junctions with Love Lane and A257 Lower Chantry Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ivy Lane, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, Love Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The One-Way Order on Ivy Lane and Love Lane will be suspended for the duration of the works to allow access.



Pilgrims Way, Canterbury, CT1 1XT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pilgrims Way, Canterbury from 10th May 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 06:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pilgrims Way, St Augustines Road, A2050 New Dover Road, Barton Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Puckle Lane, Canterbury, CT1 3JX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Puckle Lane, Canterbury from 6th May 2026, with estimated completion by 8th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 16, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Puckle Lane, Prospect Place, Nunnery Fields and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Shepherds Walk, Chestfield.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shepherds Walk, Chestfield from 4th May 2026, with estimated completion by 11th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Old Fold and Cherry Orchard, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Old Fold, Grasmere Road, Chestfield Road, Cherry Orchard and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Snowdown Road, Womenswold.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Snowdown Road, Womenswold from 5th May 2026, with estimated completion by 7th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with The Street and Nethersole Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Snowdown Road, B2046 Adisham Road, Spinney Lane, Aylesham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Strangers Lane, Thanington Without, CT1 3XZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Strangers Lane, Thanington Without from 20th April 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with A28 Thanington Road and Cockering Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cockering Road, St Nicholas Road, A28 Thanington Road, Strangers Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Waltham Road, Petham, CT4 5RY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Waltham Road, Petham from 5th May 2026 with estimated completion by 6th May 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside The Nest, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Waltham Road, The Street, Town Road, Stone Street, Dean Hill, Dean Bottom, From Dean Bottom To District Boundary, East Of Hastingleigh, The Street, Waltham Road, Ashenfield Road, Woods Hill, Kake Street, Waltham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Various Roads, Whitstable - Whitstable 10K 2026.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026

To allow the Whitstable 10K 2026 event to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads throughout Whitstable from 4th May 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 12:30, or until the event is complete.

Beach Walk will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 08:00 and 12:30.

Tower Hill will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.

Marine Parade will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.

The following roads will be closed at their junctions with Marine Parade, with access to each of them remaining from the B2205 Tankerton Road direction:-

• Park Avenue

• Cliff Road

• St Annes Road

All roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2205 Tankerton Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the event.
