What is happening?

PARKING PLACES – DISABLED
PERSONS’ VEHICLES
The Department for Infrastructure has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The Parking Places
(Disabled Persons’ Vehicles) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026”, (S.R. 2026
No. 69) which comes into operation on 21 April 2026.
The Rule will create parking places with unlimited waiting in Belfast, Coleraine, Cookstown,
Derry/Londonderry, Irvinestown and Newry; remove parking places with unlimited waiting in
Belfast, Cookstown and Derry/Londonderry; and also amend the description of parking
places with limited waiting in Derry/Londonderry and Irvinestown.
All parking places are for the use of disabled persons’ vehicles only.
A copy of the Rule may be viewed at DfI offices during office hours (Monday to Friday
9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) by appointment only. Appointments can be arranged by telephoning
0300 200 7899. The Rule may also be viewed online at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/nisr

ABANDONMENT –
LITTLE VICTORIA CAR PARK, BELFAST
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI), being of the opinion that the road is not necessary for
road traffic, gives notice of its intention to make an Order under Article 68 of the Roads
(Northern Ireland) Order 1993, the effect of which would be to abandon-
• an area of 213.976 square metres of road at Little Victoria Street Car Park extending from
a point 10 metres north of its junction with Downshire Place for a distance of 23 metres in
a northerly direction.
• an area of 137.184 square metres of road previously known as Little Brunswick Street
now incorporated within Little Victoria Street Car Park extending from No. 2 Bruce Street
for a distance of 12 metres in a southerly direction.
The areas of road proposed to be abandoned are delineated on a map which, together with
a copy of a draft order, may be inspected free of charge during office hours within the period
15th April 2026 to 22nd May 2026 at DfI TRAM Eastern Division, Hydebank House, 4a
Hospital Road, Ballydollaghan, Belfast, BT8 8JL or viewed online at

Inspection of the draft Order and map is by appointment only which can be arranged either
by email using the email address below or by telephone during office hours (Monday to
Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) on 0300 200 7899.
Any person may, within the period above, object to the proposal by writing to the Department
at the address above or by emailing

stating the
grounds of the objection.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION
POND PARK ROAD, LISBURN
Notice is hereby given that the Department for Infrastructure using its powers under Article 7
(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, has temporarily
prohibited the use, by traffic of:-
Pond Park Road, Lisburn
from junction with Pond Park Road East to 300 metres north of junction with Pond Park East.
This road will be closed continuously until 17.00hrs
on Monday 26th June 2026.
The closure is required for Pond Park Road Trunk Main replacement.
Alternative route: Pond Park Road East
EASTERN DIVISION
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION
OLDPARK ROAD, LISBURN
Notice is hereby given that the Department for Infrastructure using its powers under Article 7
(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, has temporarily
prohibited the use, by traffic of:-
Oldpark Road, Lisburn
from junction with Pond Park Road East to 200 metres east of junction with
Pond Park Road East.
This road will be closed continuously until 17.00hrs
on Monday 26th June 2026.
The closure is required for Pond Park Road Trunk Main replacement.
Alternative route: B101 Pond Park Road – B101 Lady Wallace Avenue – A514 Derriaghy
Road – C5 Derriaghy Road – Ivy Hill.
