What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
PART OF BOTH PAINSTHORPE LANE AND
HOWE LANE, KIRBY UNDERDALE
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order
the effect of which is to prohibit any person from
causing any vehicle to proceed/proceeding along part
of Painsthorpe Lane from Painsthorpe Hall to
its junction with Howe Lane and part of Howe Lane,
Kirby Underdale between its junctions with
Painsthorpe Lane and Uncleby Road commencing
4 May 2026 until 24 May 2026 daily between the
hours of 08.00 until 18.00.
The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed
part of both Painsthorpe Lane and Howe Lane,
Kirby Underdale to allow carriageway work to
commission water main work to be carried out and
completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the
safety of the public.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed
within 21 days.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order
is via Uncleby Road, Uncleby Hill, Roman Road,
Painsthorpe Lane, Kirby Underdale CP,
Wolds Weighton Ward.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but
remain open at all times to pedestrians and for
vehicular access to properties directly affected by the
closure and for emergency services.
The Order will commence on 4 May 2026 and
continue in force for a period not exceeding
18 months or until the works which it is proposed
to carry out have been completed, whichever is the
earlier.
