TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that on 13th April 2026 Sunderland City Council made a Traffic Regulation Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 9, 10 and 122 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The Order comes into force on 16th April 2026. The effect of the Order is to prohibit any Motor Vehicle from waiting at any time on the junction of Bonemill Lane and Bramhall Drive as set out in the schedule below. The order also revokes the existing experimental traffic regulation order affecting the sections of roads in the schedule below. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at the City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland or an electronic copy of the documents can also be obtained by emailing:

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
Schedule Bonemill Lane, Washington, Sunderland (i) both sides from a point 130.8 metres east of the extended eastern highway boundary of Swinhope for a distance of 70.4 metres in an easterly direction.
Bramhall Drive, Washington, Sunderland (i) the north-east side from a point 38.4 metres south-east of the southern highway intersection of Bonemill Lane & Bramhall Drive to its north-western extent. (ii) the north-east side from a point 130.2 metres south-east of the southern highway intersection of Bonemill Lane & Bramhall Drive to its north-western extent.
