(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrian to proceed over that length of Manchester Road, Hapton from outside house number 86 to outside house number 115.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. For removal of the footbridge the prohibition will be operative from 1000 hours on Saturday 18th April 2026 until 1000 hours on Sunday 19th April 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. However, if the bridge removal is unable to occur then a contingency closure date will be operative on date:
I. i:1000 hours on Saturday 25th April 2026 until 1000 on Sunday 26th April 2026
The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
4. For the return of the footbridge the prohibition will be operative from 1000 hours on Saturday 23rd May 2026 until 1000 hours on Sunday 24th May 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. However, if the bridge removal is unable to occur then a contingency closure date will be operative on date:
I. 1000 hours Saturday 30th May 2026 until 1000 hours on Sunday 31st May 2026.
The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
5. Alternative route for pedestrians and cyclist affected by the closure is via:
Manchester Road, Ruskin Grove, Carter Avenue, Footbridge, Wordsworth Street, Whitefield Street, Vice Versa.
6. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Manchester Road, Burnley Road, Higher Shuttleworth, Blackburn Road, Church Street/Burnley Road, Green Lane, Hapton Road, Cemetery Road, St Johns Road- Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Hapton Station footbridge to be lifted and transported off site for refurbishments, works to be carried out by Lancashire County Council.
