What is happening?

(ARTHUR STREET, REAR 2A-46 CHAPEL STREET, BACK COMMERCIAL STREET, BACK 28 TO 48 COMMERCIAL STREET, CHAPEL STREET, COMMERCIAL STREET, BRIERFIELD, PENDL BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over those lengths of
i. Arthur Street, Brierfield from its junction with William Street to its junction with Rear 1 to 39 Chapel Street
ii. Rear 2a – 46 Chapel Street, Brierfield from the rear of 24 Chapel Street to the rear of 32 Chapel Street.
iii. Back Commercial Street, Brierfield from its junction with Arthur Street to its junction with rear 26 to 46 Arthur Street.
iv. Back 28 To 48 Commercial Street, Brierfield from its junction with Arthur Street to the rear of 5 William Street
v. Chapel Street, Brierfield from outside 10 Chapel Street to outside 38 Chapel Street.
vi. Commercial Street, Brierfield from outside 10 Commercial Street to outside 42 Commercial Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0730 hours on Monday 27th April 2026 until 1630 hours on Friday 19th June 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway and footway improvements carried out by George Cox & Sons LTD.
