Carlisle - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(U1192 CLIENTS ROAD, GREAT CORBY, C2048 BRACKENTHWAITE

AND REDALMOT ESTATE ROAD (CARLISLE))

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. U1192 Clients Road, Great Corby, from a point adjacent to the property known as Rowan Dell, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 70m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U1192 Clients Road, U1191 Burgh, A69 Warwick Bridge and C1027.

Duration: From 6 April 2026 for approx. 8 days

2. C2048 Brackenthwaite, from its junction with the U2147, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 260m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2048, C2047 and A595.

Duration: From 22 April 2026 for approx. 1 day

3. Viaduct Estate Road, Carlisle, from its junction with the A595 Bridge Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 60m.

Alternative Route for South Bound Vehicles: via the A595 Bridge Street and Church Street, Shaddongate, Junction Street, Charlotte Street, Nelson Bridge and the unrestricted section of Viaduct Estate Road.

Duration: From 28 April 2026 for approx. 3 days

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 6 April 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
