Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Grenoble Road area closures

Date of Order: 29 March 2026

Coming into force: 5 April 2026

This Order is being introduced in support of the Traffic Management Plan for Oxford United Football Club. It is designed for road safety reasons and practicality to aid the managed traffic flow around football supporter arrivals and leaving times. The order is promoted by Michelle Walton, Safety Officer, Oxford United FC, Grenoble Road, OX4 4XP mwalton@ouf.co.uk.

The plan is effectively to close on match days or other authorised events, the circulatory roads of the four Grenoble Road roundabouts serving the Kassam Stadium area from Robert Bobinson Avenue to Guelder Road, to allow the continuous free flow of traffic from east to west and vice-versa. Vehicles wishing use the restricted junctions will be directed to the stated roundabouts to return on the opposite carriageway. Some additional junctions serving Grenoble Road may be closed if/as required and lane closures may be implemented on local roads or the A4074 will be implemented if/as required.

If operational or emergency procedures apply, the whole of Grenoble Road will be closed and the alternative through route will be via A4074 Henley Road, A4142 Eastern By-Pass, B480 Watlington Road and vice versa.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for traffic management operations, and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months. (Ref: S26-015)
