WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL
UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(SULHAM LANE/SULHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Sulham Lane in Sulham between its junction with A329 Reading Road to outside property known as The Granary.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Mill Lane, A340 Road known as Theale Road, A340 The Street, A340 Tidmarsh Road, A340 Church Road, A329 High Street, A329 The Square, A329 Reading Road, Sulham Lane and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Chevron Traffic Management to remove inlet and outlet screens either side of the road and replace the wooden gates. Install new stock proof fencing around the outlet to prevent any livestock entering the culvert.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 20th April 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 20th and 24th April 2026, between the hours of 09:30-15:30.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
