WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of A5209 Crow Orchard Road, Wrightington from where it meets the M6 junction 27 (northbound) to 20 metres passed Moss Lane.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from daily from 2000 to 0500 hours on Thursday 16th April until Monday 27th April 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may not be carried out on the dates specified. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
A5209, Hall Lane, A5209 Sparrow Hill, A5209 Parbold Hill, A5209 Alder Lane, A5209 Ash Brow, A5209 Course Lane, A5209 Lowry Hill Lane, A5209 Briars Lane, A5209 Square Lane, A59 Liverpool Road South, A59 Liverpool Road North, A59 Moss Lane, A59 Causeway, A59 Liverpool Road, A581 Croston Road, A581 Meadow Lane, A581 Westhead Road, A581 Town Road, A581 Highfield Road, A581 Southport Road, A581 Dawbers Lane, A49 Wigan Road, A49 Sibbering Brow, A49 Preston Road, A49 Springs Brow, A49 Preston Road, A5209 School Lane, A5209 Almond Brook Road, A5209 Shevington Lane, A5209 Crow Orchard Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out.
