What is happening?

Ewhurst Road (D222) Peaslake
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 01 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Ewhurst Road (D222) Peaslake as extends from its junction with (D228) Walking Bottom to its junction with the access to the property known as “Rose Cottages”. Alternative Route: Ewhurst Road, Peaslake Road, Pitch Hill, Lawbrook Lane, and Walking Bottom, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate water disconnection works for, or on behalf of Thames Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 14 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for residents and businesses, they will be required to follow the signed diversion route. 

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

Blackheath Lane (D220) Albury
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 01 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Blackheath Lane (D220) Albury that is crossed under the bridge known as “Blackheath Lane” Bridge (RSJ 19/1296 and for a distance of 20 metres either side. 

This Order is required to facilitate bridge inspection works for, or on behalf of Network Rail. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 night, between the hours of 10pm and 6am, during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 16 April 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the banksmen on site, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. No sole access is affected by this closure. There is no alternative route for this closure.

D6848 Arbrook Lane, Esher
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 01 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of the western arm of D6848 Arbrook Lane, Esher at its junction with C158 Milbourne Lane: – as extends from a point 25m south of the junction of the eastern arm of D6848 Arbrook Lane with C158 Milbourne Lane, to the junction of the western arm of D6848 Arbrook Lane, with C158 Milbourne Lane. This Traffic Order is required to enable Thames Water to carry out carriageway reinstatement and/or access a manhole and/or carry out maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm within 1 day of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 13 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. No sole access to property will be affected. 

Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times up to the point of works via the alternative route:- Milbourne Lane, Arbrook Lane. Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times via the footway.

Staines By-Pass (A308) Staines Upon Thames/Ashford
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 1 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the north-westbound carriageway of Staines By-Pass (A308) Staines Upon Thames/Ashford as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (B377) Kingston Road and (B377) Fordbridge Road (also know as the “Ford Bridge” roundabout) to its junction at the roundabout with (A308) London Road and (A30) Staines By-pass/London Road (also known as the “Crooked Billet Roundabout”). Alternative Route – A30 London Road; Church Road; and Fordbridge Road.

This 12-month Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 13 April 2026 is required to facilitate resurfacing works and/or maintenance works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of M Group within the length of road described in this notice.

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 5 Nights between the hours of 10pm and 5.30am. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will operate only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for the emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, all other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.

Great Goodwin Drive (D4011) Guildford
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 1 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Great Goodwin Drive (D4011) Guildford westwards for a distance of 30 metres.

Alternative Route – Bushy Hill Drive and Great Goodwin Drive.

This 12-month Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 13 April 2026 is required to facilitate mains gas maintenance works and/or mains gas repair works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 2 weeks between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will operate only when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for Residents within the closure area, the emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.

A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 1 April 2026 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- 

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the northbound carriageway of A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell which extends from its junction with Park Road to its junction with Horton Road; 

(b) prohibit vehicles entering or proceeding in the right hand-lane (in any direction other than southwards) and in the left-hand lane of the southbound carriageway (in any direction other than northwards) of A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell which extends from its junction with Horton Road to its junction with Park Road, and any parts thereof; 

(c) impose a 30mph speed limit in that length of A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell which extends from its roundabout junction with A30 London Road to its roundabout junction with A3113 Airport Way. 

(d) suspend the Order imposing a 50mph speed limit on the length of A3044 Stanwell Moor Road, Stanwell as specified in part (c) above. This Order is required to enable Brownes to facilitate pipe installation and/or other associated works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 4 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, contra-flow, speed limit and suspension of the speed limit will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The prohibitions referred to above will not apply: (i) in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; (ii) in respect of anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Police. For sub-paragraph (c): The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.

Firs Close Footpath (D6845) Claygate
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from entering or proceeding on foot or by any other means in the entire length of Firs Close Footpath (D6845) Claygate as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between property No.89 and No.90 to a point in line with the common boundary between property No.87 and No.88. 

Alternative Route for Pedestrians: Firs Close. This Order is required to facilitate new customer connection works for, or on behalf of LJD Civils and Cabling Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8am to 5pm, during the 6-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 27 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Due to the nature of the works, there will be no access on foot or by any other means, and all traffic will be required to follow the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.

Wyke Avenue (D858) Ash
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Wyke Avenue (D858) Ash as extends from its junction with (D66) Wyke Lane and to a point in line with the common boundary between property No.14 and No.15 Wyke Avenue. 

Alternative Route: Wyke Avenue. This Order is required to facilitate telecom pole replacement works for, or on behalf of Morrison Telecom Services Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 27 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the banksmen on site, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Station Road to Stoneylands Court (Townpath) (T1012) Egham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the abovementioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from entering or proceeding on foot or by any other means in the entire length of Station Road to Stoneylands Court (Townpath) (T1012) Egham. 

Alternative Route: Stoneylands Road, Grange Road, (B3407) Church Road, and Station Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate water utility works, and/or any other maintenance works, for or on behalf of Affinity Water. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 6-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 27 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain access through the closure, and all traffic will be required to follow the diversion route.

Queens Road (D3185) Egham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic from entering or proceeding in that length of Queens Road (D3185) Egham as extends from its junction with (D3185) Rusham Road and for a distance of 45 metres along Queens Road. 

Alternative Route: Queens Road, North Street, and Rusham Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate new sewage connection works for, or on behalf of JW Clark Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 11 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 27 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, there will be no access through the closure, and all traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.

Hurtmore Road (C23) Godalming
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Hurtmore Road (C23) Godalming as extends from its junction with (D96) Summers Lane to its junction with (D957) Quarry Road. 

Alternative Route: Hurtmore Road, Elstead Road, (A3) Guildford – Godalming By-pass, (B3000) Puttenham Heath Road, Priorsfield Road, and Hurtmore Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate new customer connection works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 16 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 29 April 2026. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

D6258 Cycle Track from Upper Halliford Road to
Nursery Road, Shepperton
Temporary Closure Order 2026

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D6258 Cycle Track from Upper Halliford Road to Nursery Road, Shepperton. 

Note – works are anticipated to be carried out in two sections within D6258 Cycle Track from Upper Halliford Road to Nursery Road, Shepperton:- (i) between D6258 Kelly Close and the link footway to A244 Upper Halliford Road, and (ii) from its junction with D6247 Nursery Road, westwards for 50m. 

These sections are not to be closed simultaneously so to maintain access to the station at all times, either from the north-eastern or south-western end of the temporary closure.

This Traffic Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out resurfacing works to the existing cycle track and associated minor cycle improvements and/or maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out within 1 week of the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 01 May 2026. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated may be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times via the alternative route: – D6247 Upper Nursery Road, A244 Upper Halliford Road, D6258 Service Road and Upper Halliford Road. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

Notice of Confirmation of an Order Highways Act 1980
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Footpath No. 126A (West End)
Public Path Diversion Order 2021

On 3 March 2026 the Secretary of State for the Environment confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert Footpath 126A (West End) running from a point at Grid Ref 492726 161268 in a generally south-westerly direction for 1227 metres to Grid Ref 491606 160871, to a line running from the same point in a north-westerly direction for 203 metres via Grid Ref 492560 161382 then in a generally south-westerly direction for 1131 metres to Grid Ref 491606 160871.

A copy of the order and map may be seen free of charge at the Countryside Access Office, Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ (by appointment Tel. 0300 200 1003), at Surrey Heath Borough Council, Knoll Rd, Camberley GU15 3HD and at Camberley Library, Knoll Road, Camberley, GU15 3SY during opening hours. The notice may also be viewed on www.surreycc.gov.uk. Copies of the order and map may be purchased from the County Council for £4.

The order came into force on 3 March 2026, but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained within it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 3 April 2026, make an application to the High Court.
