What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(LOMESHAY ROAD, MEADOW BANK ROAD, STREET FROM MANCHSTER ROAD NW DIRECTION TO MEADOW BANK ROAD, NELSON, PENDLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over those lengths of
i. Lomeshay Road, Nelson from its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Every Street
ii. Meadow Bank Road, Nelson from its junction with Lomeshay Road to its junction with Rear of 5 to 15 Lomeshay Road.
iii. Street from Manchster Road In NW Direction To Meadow Bank Road, Nelson from its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Rear 132 to 142 Manchester Road.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0700 hours on Monay 13th April 2026 until 1700 hours on Sunday 26th April 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Meadow Bank Road – Every Street – St Marys Street – Manchester Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow the excavation of joint bay with track in the carriageway to relocate box to be carried out.
