What is happening?

TRAFFIC ORDER

On 30/03/2026 Angus Council made The Angus

Council (South Street, Forfar) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Waiting) Order 2026, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, so that gas main replacement works may be undertaken. The Order will come into force on Monday 06 April 2026, from which date it is anticipated that the work will last for a period of eleven days. However, the maximum duration in terms of the Act is 18 months. The effect of the Order is to prohibit the driving and waiting of vehicles on a) East High Street, Forfar (westbound) from its junction with Brender Ha’ westwards to its junction with Queen Street a distance of 118 metres or thereby; b)South Street. Forfar from its junction with East High Street, southwards for a distance of 48 metres or thereby and c)North Street Fofar from its junction with East high Street northwards for a distance of 28 meters or thereby. Access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained. The alternative route for vehicular traffic is via a) Westbound traffic: is via Academy Street, Couties Wynd and East High street; b) Southbound traffic: is via Victoria Street, Queenswell Road, Craig o’ Loch Road West High Street and East high Street. The order also prohibits the waiting of traffic on the following streets a) Strang Street, Forfar (north sides) from its entire length and b) East High Street Forfar form a point 38m west of its junction with South Street westwards for a distance of 36 meters or thereby.
