What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury, CT2 8AB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 23rd April 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 24th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with St Peters Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 St Peter’s Place, St Dunstans Street, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & NO LEFT TURN) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, southbound only, on part of A299 Thanet Way Slip Way & A2990 Thanet Way, Whitstable, in phases from 23rd April 2026, with estimated completion by 16th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

Phase 1

The left turn from A299 Thanet Way Slip Way onto Church Lane will be prohibited.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, back around roundabout onto Church Lane.

Phase 2

A2990 Thanet Way will be closed southbound only, between the junctions with Boorman Way and Church Lane.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and Church Lane.



Broomfield Road, Herne, CT6 7DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broomfield Road, Herne from 7th April 2026, with estimated completion by 9th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 99, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broomfield Road, Gorse Lane, Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road, Broomfield Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Chestfield Road, Chestfield, CT5 3LR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chestfield Road, Chestfield from 7th April 2026, with estimated completion by 8th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 165, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury Hill, Wood Hill, Hackington Road, Radfall Road, Radfall Hill, Chestfield Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Edward Road, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Edward Road, Canterbury from 21st April 2026 with estimated completion by 22nd April 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Lower Chantry Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Grove Road, Wickhambreaux.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux from 8th April 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Stodmarsh Road heading approximately 770m southwards, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 High Street, Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Ivy Lane & Love Lane, Canterbury.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ivy Lane, Canterbury from 21st April 2026 with estimated completion by 22nd April 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

Ivy Lane will be closed between the junctions with Love Lane and A257 Lower Chantry Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ivy Lane, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, Love Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The One-Way Order on Ivy Lane and Love Lane will be suspended for the duration of the works to allow access.



Strangers Lane, Thanington Without, CT1 3XZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Strangers Lane, Thanington Without from 20th April 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd June 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with A28 Thanington Road and Cockering Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cockering Road, St Nicholas Road, A28 Thanington Road, Strangers Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The Street, Adisham, CT3 3JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on The Street, Adisham from 9th April 2026, with estimated completion by 13th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Woodlands Road, Woodlands Lane, Poor Start Lane, Bramling Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
