What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BELSWAINS LANE, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Belswains Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Belmont Lane north westwards to its junction with Newell Road, a distance of approximately 142m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Belswains Lane, Lower Road, Red Lion Lane, Nash Mills Lane, A4251 London Road, Durrants Hill Road, Lawn Lane and Belswains Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 20 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LONGFIELD ROAD, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Longfield Road, Tring from its junction with The Orchard north eastwards for a distance of approximately 19m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Longfield Road, B4635 (Aylesbury Road/ Western Road), Miswell Lane and Longfield Road.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 20 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUDDEPHATS LANE, MARKYATE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Puddephats Lane, Markyate from a point 290m north east of its junction with Flamstead UUCR No.01 (Green Lane) north eastwards for a distance of approximately 467m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Puddephats Lane, Trowley Bottom, Wood End Lane and Puddephats Lane.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 22 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON 

CHESHAM ROAD AND HILLTOP ROAD, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:1. that length of Chesham Road, Berkhamsted from its junction with Hilltop Road south westwards to its junction with the A416 Kingshill Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 553m.

An alternative route will be via Hilltop Road, Beech Drive, Three Close Lane, A4251 High Street and A416 (Kings Road/Kingshill Way).

2. that length of Hilltop Road, Berkhamsted from its junction with St Edmunds south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Chesham Road, a distance of approximately 119m.

An alternative route will be via Hilltop Road, Beech Drive, Three Close Lane, A4251 High Street, A416 (Kings Road/Kingshill Way) and Chesham Road. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect on 23 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 8 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MIDDLE LANE, BOVINGDON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Middle Lane, Bovingdon from its junction with Venus Hill north eastwards for a distance of approximately 264m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Venus Hill, Long Lane and Middle Lane. The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 21 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Horsecroft Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Fishery Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 62m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Fishery Road, Kingsland Road, Wharf Road and Horsecroft Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 20 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Trooper Road, Aldbury from a point 40m north east of its junction with New Ground Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m (“the Road”).

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B488 Icknield Way, Tring from a point 22m north east of its junction with the B4635 Aylesbury Road/A41 Tring Bypass roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 287m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B488 Icknield Way, B4635 (Aylesbury Road/ Western Road/High Street), B486 (Brook Street/Wingrave Road/New Mill Terrace/Wingrave Road) and B488 Icknield Way.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Holliday Street, Berkhamsted from its junction with A4251 High Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A4251 High Street, Ravens Lane and Holliday Street.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 7 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HICKS ROAD, MARKYATE AND  STATION ROAD, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1. that length of Hicks Road, Markyate from its junction with A5183

Dunstable Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via A5183 Dunstable Road, B4540 (Luton Road/ Markyate Road), Front Street, Pepsal End Lane, Windmill Road and Hicks Road.

2. that length of Station Road, Berkhamsted from its junction with Castle Street south eastwards to its junction with Gravel Path, a distance of approximately 320m.

An alternative route will be via Castle Street, Chapel Street and Gravel Path. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 6 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road. THE HERTFORDSHIRE (BOXTED ROAD, POLEHANGER LANE 

AND WHITEBROOM ROAD, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) 

(RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Boxted Road, Polehanger Lane and Whitebroom Road, Hemel Hempstead as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

The Order will come into effect on Friday 10 April 2026.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 1 April 2026 to 13 May 2026 during office hours at Main Reception, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage or online at www.hertfordshire. gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting Dacorum and looking at Ref: D01025. Enquiries relating to the Order should be referred to the Highways Engineer concerned Mark Reynolds tel: 0300 123 4047 or mark.reynolds@ hertfordshire.gov.uk.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order, or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE: No waiting at any time – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plan – Parts of Boxted Road, Polehanger Lane and Whitebroom Road.
