What is happening?

SPEED RESTRICTION ORDER 2026

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the
effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing
any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along various
roads and the use of suspended parking bays under the
East Riding of Yorkshire Council (On Street Parking
and Revocation) (Civil Enforcement) Order 2021,
the introduction of a 20 mph speed restriction and
buffer zone on the approaches to the 20 mph where
applicable (signs to be erected on site) on various
roads, throughout East Riding of Yorkshire commencing
21 April 2026. The reason for the closure is to enable
the proposed various roads throughout East Riding of
Yorkshire carriageway maintenance and surface dressing
works, to be carried out and completed in a manner
consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed by
31 August 2026 (weather permitting). The diversion
routes for traffic affected by the road closures will
be signed in advance. The roads will be closed to
all through traffic but access will be maintained for
residents, emergency vehicles and pedestrians. The
Order will commence 21 April 2026 and continue
in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months
or until the works which it is proposed to carry out
have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Further
