What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN

(PRESTON NEW ROAD, BLACKBURN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council made the above Order under Section 14 (1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to close Preston New Road for the following extent: from its junction with Barbara Castle Way to its junction with Montague Street.

The closure is necessary for the following reason: Carriageway Resurfacing.

The Order will come into force on 30th March 2026 and shall continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14th April 2026.

The alternative route for the affected traffic will be Montague Street, Barbara Castle Way and vice versa.

Any other highways that have a junction with that part of the closed Preston New Road will have relevant signage indicating diversions where reasonably possible. Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
