M3 MOTORWAY – JUNCTION 6

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M3 Motorway in the county of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise the weekend closure of: -

  1. the roundabout between the road leading to the coastbound carriageway of the M3 and the southbound carriageway of the M3 spur road connecting Black Dam Roundabout to the Junction 6 roundabout at Junction 6 (Black Dam Interchange) (A339);
  2. the northbound carriageway of the M3 spur road connecting the Junction 6 roundabout to Black Dam Roundabout at Junction 6 (Black Dam Interchange) (A339); and
  3. (a) the road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 6 (A339);

    (b) the road leading from the coastbound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 6 (A339).

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway repair works and all associated works.

It is expected that the works would last approximately 1 month and be done in 2 weekend phases. The weekend closures would commence at 21:00 on the Friday and end at 06:00 on the Monday. Please visit the National Highways website for further details.

The Order would come into force on 22nd April 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the M3, the A287, the A30 and Winchester Road.

The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
