What is happening?

THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(PARKING PLACES AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council made the above Order on 27 March 2026.
The effect of the Order will be:
1. To extend the existing "No Waiting Monday - Friday 8am-5pm"restrictions on Ascot Road, east side northwards for 12 metres opposite Nos 28-32; to introduce "No Waiting Monday - Friday 8am-5pm" restrictions on Stride Avenue north side from a point 7 metres east of the extended eastern kerbline of Ascot Road to a point 7 metres west of the extended western kerbline of Lakeside Avenue (opposite Nos 24-60).
2. To extend the existing "School Keep Clear Monday-Friday 8am-4pm" restriction on Ascot Road east side from a point 25 metres north of Stride Avenue for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction
3. To introduce "No waiting at any time" restrictions on the following lengths of road:
Jervis Road north side on the whole lengths of the build-outs between parking bays: outside No 166, outside No 134, outside No 94; outside No. 76; outside No. 76; outside No. 52, and outside No. 24;
South side on the whole lengths of the build-outs between parking bays: outside No. 27; outside No.55; outside No. 81, and outside No.99
Ashurst Road north side from a point 17 metres east of the extended eastern flank wall of block 70-80 Ashurst Road westwards to its western closed end; south side from Fourth Avenue for 21 metres eastwards, from opposite the eastern end of the access to Block 41-46 for 62 metres eastwards, from its western closed end eastwards for 40 metres, Western closed end for its entire length;
East Cosham Road west side from the southern boundary of the property No.117 northwards to the northern closed end, northern closed end for its entire length;
Fair Oak Road Both sides from its junction with Locksway Road northwards for 10 metres;
Greenwood Avenue Both sides an extension of the existing restrictions from 3 metres to 10 metres north of its junction with Medina Road;
Harwich Road South side from the property boundary of No 18 and No.20 eastwards to its eastern closed end, north side from the property boundary of No.13 and No.15 eastwards to its eastern closed end, eastern closed end for its entire length;
Locksway Road north side from its junction with Fair Oak Road westwards for 5 metres;
Medina Road north side to extend the existing "No Waiting at Any Time" restrictions from 3 metres to 10 metres west of its junction with Greenwood Avenue;
Thornton Close west and north side from its junction with Christchurch Gardens to a point 8 metres east of the western closed end of Thornton Close; Portsmouth.gov.uk
4. To introduce parking places limited to 2 hours, no return within 4 hours (JH permit holders exempt) on Highfield Road south-west side from the boundary of Nos 25 and 27 south-eastwards for 9 metres

6. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
7. This Order comes into operation on 1 April 2026.
