What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Waterfall Lane, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding northbound via Waterfall Lane from its junction with Perry Park Road to the extended boundary between No’s 100 & 102 Waterfall Lane (9.30am - 3.30pm only). A diversion route for northbound traffic will be signed via Perry Park Road, Highfield Road & Waterfall Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 06/04/2026. Purpose – to facilitate the replacement of a defective manhole cover and frame by Severn Trent Water. For more information contact Siddhi Kambi of Severn Trent Water on 07918 411651.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Coronation Road, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Coronation Road between Remembrance Road & Friar Park Road (9.30am - 3.30pm only). Traffic will be diverted via Crankhall Lane, Gloucester Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 08/04/26. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Park Road. Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Park Road between No’s 31 & 55 (8am - 4pm only). Traffic will be diverted via Upper St Mary’s Street, Wigorn Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 09/04/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bull Lane, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Bull Lane at the point of its junction wih Piercy Street (8am - 4pm only). Traffic will be diverted via Millward Street, Wood Lane, Hambletts Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 09/04/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Brook Bridge, Newton Road, West Bromwich) (Temporary Public Right of Way Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit access for pedestrians, horses and cyclists to the public right of way known as Brooks Bridge, located adjacent to the River Tame & beneath Newton Road. Diversion routes will be signed via the traffic signals located at the junction of Newton Road & Hamstead Road & Newton Road at the junction of Forge Lane. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 01/05/2026, effective from 03/04/2026. Purpose – to facilitate the erection of scaffolding & duct installation & repairs to Brook Bridge. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Tividale Road, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) and (Temporary Cycle Lane Closure), (Orchard Street, Oldbury) (No Right Turn Restriction) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Tividale Road, which will be closed one-way in a south-westerly direction from the dividing line of property No’s 22/24 to the junction of New Birmingham Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Tividale Road, Dudley Road West, Tipton Road, Sedgley Road East, Dudley Port, Burnt Tree & New Birmingham Road. A second traffic diversion route will be signed via Tividale Road, Dudley Road West, Dudley Road East & Lower City Road. The order intends to temporarily prohibit cyclists from proceeding along the cycle lane in Tividale Road, which will be closed from the junction of New Birmingham Road for 25 metres & cyclists will be requested to dismount and follow the footway to re-join the cycle lane past the works area. The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via a right turn from Orchard Street to Tividale Road. Traffic will be diverted via Tividale Road, Dudley Road West, Tipton Road, Sedgley Road East, Dudley Port, Burnt Tree & New Birmingham Road. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 15/05/2026, effective from 07/04/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for service diversion and kerb alignment works associated with the Burnt Tree Cycle Route Scheme by Fitzgeralds Contractors on behalf of Dudley MBC.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Wigmore Lane, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Wigmore Lane, which will be closed between the junctions of Ray Hall Lane & Newton Road. Traffic will be diverted via Ray Hall Lane from Newton Road (southerly direction). A second traffic diversion route will be signed via Ray Hall Lane (south-easterly direction), Newton Road (slip road), Peartree Drive & Newton Road (south-westerly direction). Cyclists travelling in a north-easterly direction will be requested to dismount where the cycle lane meets the road closure in Wigmore Lane near Newton Road, and follow the footway to join the carriageway past the works area. Cylists travelling in a south-westerly direction will be requested to dismount in Ray Hall Lane at the junction of Wigmore Lane, and follow the footway to access the cycle lane past the works area. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 29/05/2026, effective from 07/04/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new service duct by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.
