What is happening?

CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024
(AMENDMENT NO. 2) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council has made an Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) (“the Act”) to amend the “West Northamptonshire Council (Bus Lanes, Bus Gates, Bus Only Streets and One Way Streets) Consolidation Order 2024”.

Effect of the Order

The effect of the Order is to:-

1.  Add items to Schedule 1  of the West Northamptonshire Council (Bus Lanes, Bus Gates, Bus Only Streets and One Way Streets) Consolidation Order 2024, as set out in Schedule 1 of the draft Amendment Order and summarised in the Schedule to this Notice.

2.  Remove and replace  the existing entries relating to Duston Road, Northampton in Schedule 1 of the principal Order, as set out in Schedule 2 of the draft Amendment Order and summarised in Schedule 2 to this Notice.

3.  Insert a new exemption into Article 9 of the principal Order as sub-article (XXI), providing that loading and unloading by goods vehicles is permitted where Column 3 of Schedule 1 of that Order (as  amended) allows for this exemption.

4.  Revoke , insofar as they relate to Lodge Road, Daventry, the following Orders:

•   The Northamptonshire County Council (Lodge Road, Daventry) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2000; and

•   The Northamptonshire County Council (Lodge Road, Daventry) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2000 (Amendment No. 1) Order 2001.

A COPY of the Order may be inspected at Kier Highways, Brixworth Depot, Harborough Road, Brixworth, Northants, NN6 9BX at a time and date specified by appointment only by calling 01604 529700. A copy of the Order can also be obtained on request by emailing WNCParkingenquiries@ kier.co.uk

CHALLENGE TO THE ORDER Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with, may apply to the High Court within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made. The Order will come into effect on 30th March 2026.

Lodge Road, Daventry – Southern section between Abbey Street and Golding Close. With applicable exemptions: 9.(I), 9.(III), 9.(IV), 9.(V), 9.(VI), 9.(VII), 9.(VIII), 9.(IX), 9.(X), 9.(XII), 9.(XVII) and 9.(XXI)

Schedule 2 – Items to Replacing Existing Entries

Duston Road, Northampton – Two revised entries describing the nearside bus-only lane approaching Weedon Road, with applicable exemptions as detailed in the Amendment Order.
