Norfolk, Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ALBURY WALK – from its joining with Buckland Rise for 20m north-eastwards to facilitate new connections from 30th March to 3rd April 2026 (may continue until 15th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Albury Walk, Kingswood Close, Buckland Rise and vice versa. The works promoter is BT.

BER STREET – from its junction with Queens Road to its westernmost junction with Foulgers Opening to facilitate footway maintenance works between 07:00 and 16:00 from 30th March to 2nd April 2026 (may continue until 14th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Queens Road, Alderson Place, Finkelgate, Ber Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

KOBLENZ AVENUE, ALBION WAY, CANARY WAY

A) Koblenz Avenue from its junction with Wherry Road to its junction with Albion Way and

B) Albion Way from its junction with Koblenz Avenue for 165m south-westwards and

C) Canary Way from its junction with Koblenz Avenue to its junction with Clarence Road

to facilitate carriageway lining works between 19:00 on 29th March and 06:00 on 30th March 2026 (may continue until 11th May 2026). Alternative route is via:

A-B) Riverside, Riverside Road, Bishop Bridge Road, Barrack Street, St Crispins Road, Barn Road, Grapes Hill, Chapel Field Road, Queens Road, Bracondale, King Street, Carrow Road and vice versa.

C) Clarence Road, Thorpe Road, Yarmouth Road, Ring Road, St Williams Way, Heartsease Lane, Mousehold Lane, Sprowston Road, Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Charlton Road and to join the above diversion (Thorpe St Andrew, Sprowston, Norwich).

The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

MARION ROAD, ST LEONARDS ROAD, ST JOHNS CLOSE, AYLSHAM ROAD, LINCOLN STREET, MOUSEHOLD STREET

A) Marion Road (west side of carriageway only) from 13.5m south of its junction with St Leonards Road for 22m southwards; and

B) St Leonards Road (south side of carriageway only) from 13m west of its junction with Marion Road for 31m westwards; and

C) St Johns Close (east side of carriageway only) from 20m north of its junction with Hall Road for 29m northwards and;

D) Aylsham Road (east side of carriageway only) from 23m northwest of its junction with Edmund Bacon Court for 68m north-westwards and;

E) Lincoln Street (east side of carriageway only) from 13m northwest of its junction with Unthank Road for 19m north-westwards and;

F) Mousehold Street (north side of carriageway only) from 11m east of its junction with Silver Road for 25.5m eastwards

to facilitate electric vehicle charger installation works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Roads A-F shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 1st April to 1st July 2026 (may continue until 30th September 2027). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

NB: please note that the works are due to take place over five days within the anticipated dates period. The restrictions will be in place when indicated by the presence of on-site signs.

NORTHUMBERLAND STREET – from its junction with Bramfield Close for 30m northwards to facilitate installation of a new crossing point and footway widening from 30th March to 10th April 2026 (may continue until 22nd May 2026). Alternative route is via: Northumberland Street, West End Street, Nelson Street, Armes Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

EASTBOURNE PLACE – from its junction with Rose Lane to its junction with Prince of Wales Road to facilitate the relaying of a modular carriageway between 07:00 and 16:00 from 24th to 27th March 2026 (may continue until 8th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Rose Lane, Market Avenue, Agricultural Hall Plain, Prince of Wales Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

FINISHERS ROAD – from its junction with Drayton Road to its junction with Boot Finders Road to facilitate modular carriageway relaying and drainage fixes between 07:00 and 16:00 from 25th to 30th March 2026 (may continue until 11th May 2026). Alternative route is via Drayton Road, Clickers Road, Boot Finders Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

MILE END ROAD AND DANIELS ROAD

  1. Mile End Road from its junction with Newmarket Road to its junction with Kinner Close and
  2. Daniels Road from its junction with Newmarket Road for 41m south-eastwards

    to facilitate road marking, patching works and sign replacement between 19:00 and 07:00 from 23rd to 27th March 2026 (may continue until 8th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Ipswich Road, St Stephens Road, Chapel Field Road, Grapes Hill and Dereham Road, Guardian Road, Farrow Road, Colman Road, and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

OAK STREET – from its junction with St Crispins Road to its junction with Key and Castle Yard to facilitate footway patching between 07:00 and 16:00 from 23rd to 26th March 2026 (may continue until 7th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Alternative southbound route – Oak Street, St Martins Road, Drayton Road, Aylsham Road, Magpie Road, Edward Street, New Botolph Street, Pitt Street, St Crispins Road, Barn Road and vice versa. Alternative northbound route – St Crispins Road, Pitt Street, St Augustines Street, Aylsham Road, Drayton Road, St Martins Road and Oak Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ORFORD HILL, TIMBER HILL, ORFORD STREET, CASTLE MEADOW

A) Orford Hill from its junction with Timber Hill to its junction with Red Lion Street and

B) Timber Hill at its junction with Orford Street and

C) Orford Street from its junction with Timber Hill to its junction with Farmers Avenue and

D) Castle Meadow from its junction with Market Avenue to its junction with Red Lion Street

to facilitate maintenance of modular surface works. The Road A will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road B shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the no right turn prohibition to allow vehicles to turn right onto Orford Street and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road C shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the one-way system (southbound) to allow vehicles to travel in both a northerly and southerly direction and the Road D shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the bus lane between 07:00 and 16:00 from 23rd to 26th March 2026 (may continue until 7th May 2026). Alternative route is: Orford Street, Farmers Avenue, Cattle Market Street, Market Avenue, Castle Meadow, Red Lion Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

NB: Please note that the works are scheduled to take place between 07:00 and 16:00 on one day within the anticipated dates period. The restriction over the Road D will be in place in order to facilitate the diversion route.

SOUTHWELL ROAD AND HOSPITAL LANE

A) Southwell Road (north side of carriageway only) from its junction with Ninham Street to 55m southeast of its junction with Trafalgar Street and;

B) Southwell Road from its junction with Hall Road for 50m westwards and;

C) Hospital Lane from its junction with Hall Road for 80m eastwards

to facilitate gas main replacement works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road A shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload and the Roads B-C will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) from 23rd March to 20th April 2026 (may continue until 20th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Road B: Grove Road, Grove Walk, Cecil Road, Hall Road and vice versa; Road C: Hall Road, Lindley Street, City Road and Hospital Lane. The works promoter is Cadent.

NB: please note that the restriction over the Road A is anticipated to take place from 23rd March to 3rd April. The restrictions over the Roads B-C are anticipated to take place from 6th to 20th April.

SOUTHWELL ROAD AND TRAFALGAR STREET

A) Southwell Road from 10m east of its junction with Rowington Road to 10m east of its junction with Trafalgar Street and

B) Trafalgar Street from its junction with Southwell Road to 10m eastwards

to facilitate gas main replacement works. The Order continues the provisions of the Notice dated 13th March 2026 that the Roads A-B will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) from 21st March to 3rd April 2026 (previously 16th to 20th March 2026) (may continue until 15th May 2026). Alternative route is via: Grove Road, Grove Walk, Cecil Road, Hall Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of its start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders may be revoked on or before the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
