THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF PERTH ROAD, SUNDERLAND) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 25th March 2026 made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all traffic along Perth Road, Sunderland, from its junction with Princetown Terrace, to its western extent. The Order is required to facilitate housing development works that are on or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 11th April 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated the closure will only be in operation for approximately 15 months from commencement of the works. All traffic will be prohibited from the above road (except vehicles and personnel involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network. Dated 26th March 2026 Patrick Melia OBE, Chief Executive, Sunderland City Council, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA
