Cumberland, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (MORTON STREET, CARLISLE, C104 BISCO ROAD, U1008 MOAT AND U2263 GEORGE STREET, WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. Morton Street, Carlisle, from its junction with the A595 Wigton Road Roundabout, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 180m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

    Duration: From 10 April 2026 for approx. 1 day between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/17580)

  2. C104 Bisco Road, from its junction with the entrance track to the property known as Woodside Park, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 100m.

    A suitable alternative route will be signed on site.

    Duration: From 28 April 2026 for approx. 1 day between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/17468)

  3. U1008 Moat, from its junction with the CI001, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 40m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

    Duration: From 28 April 2026 for approx. 1 day between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/17823)

  4. U2263 George Street, Wigton, from its junction with the B5304 South End/High Street, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 60m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

    Duration: From 5 May 2026 for approx. 1 day between 0930 and 1530 hours (Ref: TTROC/17848)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 10 April 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
