(Panfield Lane, Braintree And Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)
& (Bradford Street, Braintree and Bocking)
(Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Panfield Lane, Braintree And Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Panfield Road for a distance of approximately 200m in a south westerly then south easterly direction.
- To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Bradford Street, Braintree and Bocking, from its junction with Courtauld Road to its junction with Church Lane as detailed in the “The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Braintree) (Weight Restriction) Order 1990” for the duration of the closure only.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 13th April 2026 for 98 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40013145465 – Tamdown Group). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while service diversions and drainage works are undertaken by Tamdown Group.
An alternative route is available via Panfield Lane, Aetheric Road, B1256, Courtauld Road, Bradford Street, Church Lane, B1053 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 26th March 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Chestnut Avenue, Hatfield Peverel)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Chestnut Avenue, Hatfield Peverel in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 30m south east of its junction with Willow Crescent for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th March 2026 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03163053866/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
No alternative route is available.
The Order came into effect on 12th March 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Hatfield Road, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) (Bridge Street/Newland Street, Witham) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Hatfield Road, Witham in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 95m south west of its junction with Maltings Lane for a distance of approximately 135m in a south westerly direction.
- To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Bridge Street/Newland Street from the junction of Mill Lane to the junction of Spinks Lane as cited in (The B1389 Bridge Street and B1389 Newland Street, Witham) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5T Environmental Weight Restriction) Order, 2016” for the duration of the closures only.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/restrictions are scheduled to commence on 30th March 2026 for 34 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2397207 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway excavation, and new ducting for signalised crossing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Hatfield Road, B1389, A12, Bridge Street, Hatfield Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 12th March 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Streetworks No.2) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 12th March 2026 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
The Order came into effect on 12th March 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
