What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HEMEL HEMPSTEAD FOOTPATH 76

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council have made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians from using that length of Footpath Hemel Hempstead 76, south from London Rd, for an approximate distance of 250m. Alternative route: west on London Rd, south on Russel Pl, west on Catlin St, south then west on Roughdown Rd and east across Roughdown Common on Footpath 103.

The purpose of the Order is to enable construction works to take place. The section of footpath will be closed on or after 12th March for up to 6 months, when signs are in place.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HILLFIELD ROAD,  HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hillfield Road, Hemel Hempstead from a point 50m north east of its junctions with Marlowes north eastwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via Hillfield Road, Marlowes, Midland Road, Alexandra Road and Hillfield Road.

The Order is needed because remedial works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 12 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B4635 High Street, Tring from its junction with the Christchurch Road roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 103m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via B4635 (Western Road/Aylesbury Road), B488 Icknield Way, B486 (Wingrave Road/New Mill Terrace/Wingrave Road/Brook Street) and B4636 High Street.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 15 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VALLEY LANE, MARKYATE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Valley Lane, Markyate from its junction with Pickford Road north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Pietley Hill, a distance of approximately 1866m (“the Road”), except for access. An alternative route will be via Markyate Street Lane, Wood End Lane and Pietley Hill.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THREE CHERRY TREES LANE AND SWALLOWDALE LANE, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1.  that length of Three Cherry Trees Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the B489 Redbourn Road/Shenley Road roundabout south eastwards to its junction with Swallowdale Lane, a distance of approximately 500m.

An alternative route will be via B489 Redbourn Road, A4147 (Redbourn Road/ Swallowdale Lane) and Swallowdale Lane.

2.  that length of Swallowdale Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the A4147 Maylands Avenue/Eastman Way roundabout north eastwards to its junction with Swallowdale Lane, a distance of approximately 300m.

An alternative route will be via A4147 (Swallowdale Lane/Redbourn Road), B489 Redbourn Road and Three Cherry Trees Lane. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 13 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 20 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Windmill Road, Pepperstock from its junction with Pepsal End Lane north westwards, south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 600m (“the Road”), except for access. An alternative route will be via The Common, Waterend Road, Potten End Hill, B440 Leighton Buzzard Road, Galley Hill, Boxted Road and Berkhamsted Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 40 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN BERKHAMSTED, BOURNE END AND HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-

1.  that length of A4251 High Street, Berkhamsted/A4251 London Road, Berkhamsted/ Bourne End from its junction with A416 Kings Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 4025m.

An alternative route will be via A4251 (High Street/Gossoms End/High Street/Tring Road) and A41 (unnamed road).

2.   that length of A4147 Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the A4147 Swallowdale Lane roundabout south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with the A414 St Albans Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 1566m. An alternative route will be via A4147 (Redbourn Road/Link Road), A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road and A414 St Albans Road. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 11 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON

VARIOUS ROADS AND FOOTPATH IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD)

ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and footpath

(“the Footpath”) will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of Roads, except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at anytime on both sides of these lengths of Roads, whilst works are in progress:-

a)  that length of Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its northernmost junction with Barnacres Road south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 124m.

An alternative route will be via Barnacres Road and Hill Common.

b)  the road situated on the north west side of No.1 Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Hill Common north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. 2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath fronting Nos.9-19 Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its northernmost junction with Hill Common south eastwards for a distance of approximately 36m. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Footpath.

The Order will come into effect on 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Footpath.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Trowley Bottom/ Pietley Hill, Flamstead from its junction with Trowley Hill Road north westwards, north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Mill Lane, a distance of approximately 535m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Wood End Lane, Markyate Street Lane, Valley Lane and Pietley Hill.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.
