Fletcher Street - Temporary Prohibition of Driving to Allow Construction Works
What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (FLETCHER STREET, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Fletcher Street, Stockport, between the junctions of St Petersgate and Wellington Street, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.
This Order is necessary to allow construction works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 77 weeks. A diversion will be provided via Wellington Street, Picadilly, St Petersgate and vice versa.
This Order is to come into operation on 13 April 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/15673813 Dated: 25 March 2026.
