What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C601 WILDB STREET, BECK ROW
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C601 Wildb Street, Beck Row from 230 metres southwest of Wildmere Lane for 30 metres southwest to facilitate a new water main. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A1101, the A1065, the B1112 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 25/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U2248 LINDBERGH ROAD, U2257 NACTON ROAD SERVICE ROAD EAST AND U2078 MARYON ROAD, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
● U2248 Lindbergh Road, Ipswich from Nacton Road for 50 metres northbound
● U2257 Nacton Road Service Road East, Ipswich at the junction with Lindbergh Road
● U2078 Maryon Road, Ipswich from Nacton Road for 50 metres southbound.
This is to facilitate a gas replacement scheme. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
Lindbergh Road: Nacton Road, A1189, A1156 and vice versa.
Maryon Road: Clapgate Lane, Landsmeer Road, Nacton Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 30/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U2639 TOKIO ROAD AND U2640 WEYMOUTH ROAD, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. ● U2639 Tokio Road, Ipswich from Cauldwell Hall Road to no. 37 Tokio Road
    ● U2640 Weymouth Road, Ipswich from Tokio Road to no. 7 Weymouth Road
  2. U2640 Weymouth Road, Ipswich.
    This is to facilitate a gas replacement scheme. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
    The diversion routes will be:
  3. St Johns Road, Cauldwell Hall Road, Marlborough Road and vice versa
  4. Tokio Road and vice versa.
    It is intended that the closures will operate from:
  5. 23/03/2026 - 02/04/2026
  6. 07/04/2026 - 17/04/2026.
    If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ON PART OF THE U4073 FITZROY STREET, U4004 CLAUDE STREET AND SERVICE ROAD BEHIND HIGH STREET, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
● U4073 Fitzroy Street, Ipswich
● U4004 Claude Street, Ipswich from Fitzroy Street for 50 metres westbound.
This is to facilitate access to telecoms mast for maintenance/upgrade works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Charles Street, Neale Street, Crown Street, High Street and no vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the one-way provision on the:
● U4004 Service Road behind High Street, Ipswich from Charles Street to Claude Street
● U4004 Claude Street, Ipswich
It is intended that these measures will operate from 11.55pm on 22/03/2026 - 6am on 23/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1075 PRINCES STREET, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1075 Princes Street, Ipswich from Civic Drive (eastbound only) to Friars Street to facilitate a new electricity supply. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
Northbound - Civic Drive, Elm Street, Museum Street with no vice versa
Southbound - Franciscan Way, Greyfriars Road, Bridge Street, Greyfriars Road, Franciscan Way, Civic Drive, Elm Street, Museum Street with no vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/03/2026 - 27/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1116 THE STREET, HACHESTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1116 The Street, Hacheston from 449 metres north of the junction with Marlesford Road for 225 metres northbound to facilitate overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the B1078, the B1079, the B1077, the A1120 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate on 22/03/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C244 BUTTONS ROAD, MARLESFORD
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C244 Buttons Road, Marlesford from the junction with New Road for 445 metres eastbound to facilitate the replacement of poles and new overhead cabling. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be New Road, Silverlace Green, Hall Road, The Street Parham, North Green Road, the B1116, the A12, Buttons Road Little Glemham and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 25/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE A143 BURY ROAD C691 THURSTON ROAD, GREAT BARTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
● A143 Bury Road, Great Barton from the junction with Brand Road for 280 metres north eastbound
● C691 Thurston Road, Great Barton from the junction with the A143 for 130 metres southbound.
This is to facilitate overhead rewiring. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
● Bury Road: the A143, the A140, the A14 and vice versa
● Thurston Road: the A143, the A1088, Thurston Road Thurston, Norton Road, Barton Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate on 22/03/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1071 SUDBURY ROAD, LAVENHAM
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1071 Sudbury Road, Lavenham from 86 metres south of Melford Road for 85 metres southbound to facilitate a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A134, the B1115 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 8am on 22/03/2026 - 5am on 23/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF FOOTPATH 34, HADLEIGH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing Footpath 34, Hadleigh at the bridge for safety reasons due to a damaged bridge. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
There is no diversion route.
This order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 02/03/2026.
It is intended that the closure will operate until 01/09/2026, (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1063 THE STREET, LIDGATE
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1063 The Street, Lidgate from The Belt to 50 metres south of Redhouse Farm to facilitate works to stabilise eroding stream bank. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A143, the B1061, the A1304, the B1063 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 10/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE A1141 WATER STREET, LAVENHAM
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the A1141 Water Street, Lavenham from Brent Eleigh Road to no. 39 to facilitate drainage improvements. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the B1071, the B1115 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 02/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C698 FELSHAM ROAD, COCKFIELD
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C698 Felsham Road, Cockfield from 75 metres southeast of Great Green for 35 metres south eastbound to facilitate disconnection of underground electrical cables. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Bury Road Bradfield St George, Hollybush Corner, Felsham Road Bradfield St George, Felsham Road Gedding, Drinkstone Road, Bury Road Felsham, Upper Green and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 27/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8701 BURKITTS LANE, SUDBURY
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8701 Burkitts Lane, Sudbury from no. 5 Gainsborough Terrace for 30 metres southbound to facilitate water pipe repairs. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
● Westbound: Gainsborough Street, Gregory Street, Road Adjacent to The Croft from Church Walk to Croft Road and vice versa
● Eastbound: Croft Road, Gainsborough Road, Girling Street, King Street, Market Hill and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 24/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C712 ACTON LANE, SUDBURY
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C712 Acton Lane, Sudbury from no. 13 for 20 metres north eastbound to facilitate stop tap repairs. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Harp Close Road, the B1115 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 24/03/2026 - 25/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY NO LEFT TURN ON PART OF THE U6740 CHAPPLE DRIVE, HAVERHILL
Suffolk County Council has made an order for a no left turn on the U6740 Chapple Drive, Haverhill at the junction with Withers Road to facilitate traffic safety during gas mains replacement works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Withers Road with no vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 24/03/2026 - 23/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C736 LIVERMERE ROAD, GREAT BARTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C736 Livermere Road, Great Barton from the mast telecommunications to the junction with Brand Road to facilitate installing fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Livermere Road, Mill Road, Ixworth Road, Brand Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 23/03/2026 - 02/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C448 IPSWICH ROAD, GOSBECK
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C448 Ipswich Road, Gosbeck from 930 metres south of Debenham Road for 200 metres southbound to facilitate the removal of tree branches from power cables and the clearing of vegetation. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the B1078, the B1077, the A1120, The Green, Ipswich Road, Pettaugh, Debenham Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 01/04/2026 - 02/04/2026 from 8am - 5pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH 72, ALDRINGHAM CUM THORPE
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing Footpath 72, Aldringham cum Thorpe to facilitate safety during the installation of sheet piling. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
The diversion route will be Byway 77, Byway 78, Footpath 73 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 01/04/2026 - 15/04/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 6 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

THE U7245 ERBURY PLACE AND THE U7244 COMMON STREET, CLARE TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order prohibiting waiting on the following roads:
● the U7245 Erbury Place, Clare
● the U7244 Common Street, Clare.
There will be no exceptions
This is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and lining works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Also take place during this period essential works to the highway, any vehicles that remain in the area affected during the period of the restriction may be removed in accordance with powers available to do so. TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING ON PART OF THE U6503 CROFT ROAD GEORGE LAMBTON AVENUE, NEWMARKET
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U6503 Croft Road, Newmarket and the U6503 George Lambton Avenue, Newmarket from Gordon Richards Close to Noel Murless Drive to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and lining works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be George Lambton Avenue, the B1103 and vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will be a prohibition of waiting on the U6503 Croft Road, Newmarket. There will be no exceptions
As this road closure is required to permit essential works to the highway, any vehicles that remain in the area affected during the period of the restriction may be removed in accordance with powers available to do so.
