Parsonage Street And Calder Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of
i. Parsonage Street, Colne from its junction with Albert Road for approximately 10 metres in north westerly direction.
ii. Calder Street, Colne from its junction with Albert Road for approximately 10 metres in southernly direction.
AND FURTHER, to suspend the existing one-way order on Parsonage Street, Colne and Brown Street West, Colne.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 23rd March 2026 until 1700 hours on Friday 3rd April 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services will follow diversion. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
i. Parsonage Street
Brown Street East – Lord Street – Albert Road
ii. Calder Street
Rear 67 – 129 Albert Road – River Street – Albert Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out.
