NOTICE is hereby given that Lewes District Council intends to vary the Hackney Carriage Taxi fares as
follows with the current fare in (brackets) and Italics

These changes have been agreed upon following a consultation with the Lewes District Council
Hackney carriage trade, in which 62.2% of the trade requested the above fare increase This would be
the first fare increase for Lewes District Hackney carriages since 2023.

Any objections to the Table of Fares must be made in writing to the Assistant Director of Customer
Service and Delivery before 16:00hrs on Friday 3 April 2026 at Lewes District Council, 6 High St,
Lewes BN7 2AD or by email to

Licensing@Lewes-Eastbourne.gov.uk


A copy of this Notice can be inspected at the Council’s offices at the above address between 9 am
and 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. If no objections to the Table of Fares are received, or if those
objections are withdrawn, the Table of Fares shall come into operation on the 3 May 2026 or on the
date when the last objection is withdrawn, whichever is later. Any objections that are not withdrawn
will be considered by the Council and the Table of Fares (modified or not) will come into operation
no later than the 3 July 2026.
