What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Car Boot Sales) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.57) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from Sunday 5th April 2026 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
DUISBURG WAY (EASTBOUND)
From Pier Road Roundabout to Western Parade.
DUISBURG WAY (WESTBOUND)
From its junction with Pier Road to the pay and display parking bays for approximately 30 metres.
CLARENCE ESPLANADE (EASTBOUND)
From its junction with Avenue de Caen to opposite the Castle Field retail unit (Broadside Training). (On Sunday 5th and 12th April 2026)
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the car boot sales events for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 06:00 to 14:00 on Clarence Esplanade on 5th April 2026 and 12th April 2026.
From 06:00 to 14:00 on Duisburg Way on each Sunday from 19th April 2026 to 3rd May 2026; 17th May 2026 to 26th July 2026; and 6th September 2026, 20th September 2026 and 27th September 2026.
