THE A168 TRUNK ROAD
(DISHFORTH TO YORK ROAD INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY
RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on  the A168 Trunk Road, in County of North Yorkshire, to enable bridge painting, carriageway resurfacing and joint works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Monday  13th April for 5 weeks, or until completed.

The effect of the order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to:

(i)     close the A168 northbound carriageway from the entry slip road at Dishforth Interchange to the exit slip road at York Road Interchange,  a distance of 10,900 metres;

(ii)    close the A1(M) northbound link road to A168 Dishforth Interchange;

(iii)   close the northbound entry slip road at Dishforth Interchange;

(iv)   close the northbound exit slip road at Asenby Interchange;

(v)    close the A167 northbound exit and entry slip roads at Topcliffe Interchange;

(vi)   close the A170 northbound exit slip road at York Road Interchange;

(vii)  close the B1148 northbound exit and entry slip roads at Warren Farm Interchange;

(viii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the northbound carriageway at the above as mentioned in (i);and

(ix)   close the gaps in the central reservation within the length of carriageway as

described in (i);

It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(x)    Impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A168 northbound carriageway from the northbound entry slip road at Dishforth Interchange to the northbound exit slip road at Topcliffe Interchange, a distance of 4,250 metres;

(xi)   close all laybys adjacent to the A168 northbound carriageway from Dishforth to York Road within the length of carriageway as described in (i).

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 12 April 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
