What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FOOTPATH 

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD 76

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians from using that length of Footpath Hemel Hempstead 76, for an approximate distance of 250 metres.

Alternative Route: west on London Rd, south on Russel Pl, west on Catlin St, south then west on Roughdown Rd and east across Roughdown Common on Footpath 103

The purpose of the Order is to enable pipeline works to take place.

The section of Footpath Hemel Hempstead 76 will be closed on or after 12/03/2026 for up to 6 months, when signs are in place.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON QUEEN STREET, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Queen Street, Tring from its junction with King Street north westwards to its junction with B4635 Western Road, a distance of approximately 110m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via King Street, Langdon Street and B4635 Western Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HICKS ROAD, 

MARKYATE AND STATION ROAD, BERKHAMSTED)  ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1.   that length of Hicks Road, Markyate from its junction with A5183 Dunstable Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m.

An alternative route will be via A5183 Dunstable Road, B4540 (Luton Road/Markyate Road), Front Street, Pepsal End Lane, Windmill Road and Hicks Road.

2.   that length of Station Road, Berkhamsted from its junction with Castle Street south eastwards to its junction with Gravel Path, a distance of approximately 320. An alternative route will be via Castle Street, Chapel Street and Gravel Path.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 6 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HOLLIDAY STREET, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Holliday Street, Berkhamsted from its junction with A4251 High Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A4251 High Street, Ravens Lane and Holliday Street.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 7 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 7 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of New Road, Berkhamsted from its junction with Station Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Station Road, Brownlow Road, Whitehill and Station Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 6 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B488 ICKNIELD WAY, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B488 Icknield Way, Tring from a point 22m north east of its junction with the B4635 Aylesbury Road/A41 Tring Bypass roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 287m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B488 Icknield Way, B4635

(Aylesbury Road/Western Road/High Street), B486 (Brook Street/Wingrave Road/New Mill Terrace/Wingrave Road) and B488 Icknield Way.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order will come into effect from 6 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 23 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TROOPER ROAD, ALDBURY) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Trooper Road, Aldbury from a point 40m north east of its junction with New Ground Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Trooper Road, Station Road, Beggars Lane, New Ground Lane and Trooper Road. The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order will come into effect from 6 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY 

WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS 

IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD AND TRING) 

ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1.   that length of Pluto Rise, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Jupiter Drive south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Neptune Drive, a distance of approximately 189m.

An alternative route will be via Jupiter Drive, Uranus Road and Neptune Drive.

2.   that length of Park Street, Tring from its junction with Park Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 98m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3.   that length of Lindlings, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Long Chaulden south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Honeycross Road, a distance of approximately 448m.

An alternative route will be via Long Chaulden and Honeycross Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY 

WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, BOVINGDON)

ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, Bovingdon from its junction with B4505 Chesham Road south eastwards to its junction with Church Lane, a distance of approximately 361m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B4505 Chesham Road, Leyhill Road, Green Lane, Bovingdon Green and Green Lane.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
