TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM (GORESBROOK ROAD AND SURROUNDING AREAS, DAGENHAM)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE OF INTENT

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate the implementation of a new bus route via Goresbrook Road/Maplestead Road, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    The order is expected to come in to effect on Monday 30 March 2026. The works expected for:

    • Implementation of a new bus route via Goresbrook Road/Maplestead Road to take 65 days to complete. Completion date estimated as Tuesday 02 June 2026 with the work expected to be undertaken in phases listed in Article 3 between 8.00am and 6.00pm.

    However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  2. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily:—

Phase 1 (30 March 2026 – 12 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Maplestead Road, both sides, from its junction with Lodge Avenue to its junction with Moore Crescent.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Lodge Avenue, south-westbound carriageway and south-westbound cycle track, respectively, from the extended common boundary of Nos. 480 & 482 Lodge Avenue for 51.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Moore Crescent, west side footpath, from its junction with Maplestead Road for 2.5 metres in a southerly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Maplestead Road, south side footpath, from its junction with Moore Crescent to its junction with Lodge Avenue.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Lodge Avenue, east side footpath, from its junction with Maplestead Road to a point opposite No. 478 Lodge Avenue.

Phase 2 (20 April 2026 – 20 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Ellerton Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 12 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, eastbound carriageway and eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 510 & 512 Goresbrook Road for 37.8 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north side footpath, from a point 2.4 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 508 & 510 Goresbrook Road to its junction with Ellerton Road.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Ellerton Road, west side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 12 metres in a northerly direction.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone BEC Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bay on Goresbrook Road, north side, from a point 8.8 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 504 & 506 Goresbrook Road to a point outside No. 512 Goresbrook Road.

Phase 3 (21 April 2026 – 21 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Greenfield Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 11.7 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, eastbound carriageway and eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 386 & 388 Goresbrook Road for 40 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north side footpath, from a point 1 metre west of the extended common boundary of Nos. 384 & 386 Goresbrook Road to its junction with Greenfield Road.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Greenfield Road, west side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 10 metres in a northerly direction.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone BEC Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bays at the following locations:

a. Goresbrook Road, north side, outside Nos. 380 to 386 Goresbrook Road.

b. Greenfield Road, both sides, from a point 9.5 metres north of its junction with Goresbrook Road for 2.2 metres in a northerly direction.

Phase 4 (22 April 2026 – 22 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Wix Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 13 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, eastbound carriageway and eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point 3 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 298 & 300 Goresbrook Road for 45 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north side footpath, from its junction with Wix Road for 12.5 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Wix Road, east side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 13 metres in a northerly direction.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone BEC Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bays at the following locations:

a. Goresbrook Road, north side, from a point 15 metres east of its junction with Wix Road for 3.3 metres in an easterly direction.

b. Wix Road, both sides, from a point 9.5 metres north of its junction with Goresbrook Road for 3.5 metres in a northerly direction.

Phase 5 (23 April 2026 – 23 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Treswell Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 11.3 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, eastbound carriageway and eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point 7.3 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 160 & 162 Goresbrook Road for 42.2 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north side footpath, from a point 12.6 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 160 & 162 Goresbrook Road to its junction with Treswell Road.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Treswell Road, west side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 11.3 metres in a northerly direction.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone BEC Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bays at the following locations:

a. Goresbrook Road, north side, from a point 10.7 metres east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 160 & 162 Goresbrook Road for 39 metres in an easterly direction.

b. Treswell Road, both sides, from a point 9 metres north of its junction with Goresbrook Road for 2.3 metres in a northerly direction.

Phase 6 (27 April 2026 – 28 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Consleigh Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 10.5 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, eastbound carriageway and eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point in line with the extended common boundary of Nos. 540 & 542 Goresbrook Road for 60.6 metres in an easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north side footpath, from a point 3 metres west of the extended common boundary of Nos. 534 & 536 Goresbrook Road to its junction with Consleigh Road.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Consleigh Road, east side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 10.5 metres in a northerly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians in the partial footpath closure on Consleigh Road, west side footpath, from its junction with Goresbrook Road to a point in line with the southern building line of No. 538 Goresbrook Road.

• Suspend the Disabled Blue Badge Holders Only bay on Goresbrook Road, north side, outside Nos. 534 & 536 Goresbrook Road.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone BEC Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm bays on Goresbrook Road at the following locations:

a. North side, outside Nos. 528 to 532 Goresbrook Road.

b. North side, outside No. 540 Goresbrook Road.

Phase 7 (29 April 2026 – 30 April 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Rowdowns Road, both sides, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 11.3 metres in a north-easterly direction.

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic and cycles on Goresbrook Road, south-eastbound carriageway and south-eastbound cycle track, respectively, from a point 4.2 metres south-east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 84 & 86 Goresbrook Road for 45.3 metres in a south-easterly direction.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Goresbrook Road, north-east side footpath, from a point 8.4 metres south-east of the extended common boundary of Nos. 84 & 86 Goresbrook Road to its junction with Rowdowns Road.

• Prohibit all pedestrians on Rowdowns Road, north-west side, from its junction with Goresbrook Road for 11.3 metres in a north-easterly direction.

• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone HW Mon–Sat 8.30am–5.30pm bay on Goresbrook Road, north-east side, outside Nos. 84 & 86 Goresbrook Road.

Phase 8 (1 June 2026 – 2 June 2026)

• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Goresbrook Road, both sides, from its junction with Coombes Road to its south-easterly end.

• Suspend the Limited Waiting Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm and Saturday 8.30am–12pm 2hrs No return within 3hrs, Disabled Blue Badge Holders Only, Resident Permit Holders Only Zone HW Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm and Saturday 8.30am–12pm and Business Permit Holders Only Zone HW Mon–Fri 8.30am–5.30pm and Saturday 8.30am–12pm bays on Goresbrook Road, both sides, from its junction with Coombes Road to its south-easterly end.

  1. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:

    • For Phase 1 via Lodge Avenue (A1153), Stamford Road, Aconbury Road and vice versa.

    • For Phases 2 and 3 via Goresbrook Road, Flamstead Road, Rothwell Road and vice versa.

    • For Phase 4 via Goresbrook Road, Elstow Road, Romsey Road and vice versa.

    • For Phase 5 via Goresbrook Road, Treswell Road and vice versa.

    • For Phase 6 via Goresbrook Road, Ellerton Road, Stamford Road and vice versa.

    • For Phase 7 via Goresbrook Road, Coombes Road, Downing Road and vice versa.

  1. Alternative routes for Pedestrians will be maintained and signed:

    • For Phase 1 via Lodge Avenue, north-west side footpath.

    • For Phases 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 via Goresbrook Road, south side footpath.

    • For Phase 7 via Goresbrook Road, south-west side footpath.

  1. When this closure is in place the following locations will temporarily be controlled by 2-way traffic lights:

    • During Phase 1, on Lodge Avenue, outside Nos. 455 and 484 Lodge Avenue.

    • During Phase 2, on Goresbrook Road, outside Nos. 498 and 514 Goresbrook Road.

    • During Phase 3, on Goresbrook Road, outside Nos. 374 and 392 Goresbrook Road.

    • During Phase 4, on Goresbrook Road, outside Nos. 292 and 302 Goresbrook Road.

    • During Phase 5, on Goresbrook Road, outside Nos. 156 and 164 Goresbrook Road.

    • During Phase 6, on Goresbrook Road, outside Nos. 548 Goresbrook Road and at its junction with Surmans Close.

    • During Phase 7, on Goresbrook Road, outside No. 76 Goresbrook Road and at a point 11.5 metres north-west of the extended common boundary of Nos 84 & 86 Goresbrook Road.
