What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC000148417958: The City of Manchester (Sharp Street, Piccadilly Ward)(Temporary Suspension of No waiting and No Loading) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to allow vehicular stopping on Sharp Street on the Eastbound Carriageway between Baptist Street and Rochdale Road. The City Council is satisfied that this restriction is necessary in order to facilitate removal of No Waiting, No Loading restriction for Hotel Drop Off. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 19th March 2026 to 19th September 2027. The order shall come into operation on 19th March 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If the restriction ends within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

ORDER NO. MCC148415203: The City of Manchester (Clive Street & Back St Georges Street, Piccadilly Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic)No Time Limit Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Clive Street from its junction with Rochdale Road to its junction with Back St Georges Street & Back St Georges Street from its junction with Clive Street to its junction with Hinton Street. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Rochdale Road, Peary Street & Vice Versa. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate adjacent development works. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 19th March 2026 to 30th November 2026. The order shall come into operation on 19th March 2026 until such time that it is revoked. Kevin Gillham.
