School Lane, Ulnes Walton Lane, Moss Side And Ulnes Walton - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(SCHOOL LANE, LEYLAND, ULNES WALTON LANE, MOSS SIDE AND ULNES WALTON, CHORLEY BOROUGH, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway;
I. School Lane, Leyland from its junction with Slater Lane, Leyland to its merging with Ulnes Walton Lane, Moss Side.
II. Ulnes Walton Lane, Moss Side from its merging with School Lane, Leyland to its merging with Ulnes Walton Lane, Ulnes Walton.
III. Ulnes Walton Lane, Ulnes Walton from its merging with Ulnes Walton Lane, Moss Side to its junction with Moss Lane, Ulnes Walton.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0700 hours on Monday 23rd March 2026 until 1700 hours on Sunday 14th June 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Ulnes Walton Lane - A581 Southport Road - B5253 Leyland Lane - B5253 Schleswig Way - B5248 Dunkirk Lane – School Lane and Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow excavation, and installation works to be carried out.
