Cottingham Road - Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting
What is happening?
THE KINGSTON UPON HULL CITY COUNCIL
COTTINGHAM ROAD
(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026
& (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kingston upon Hull City Council on the 10th March 2026 made the above Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Orders will come into operation on the 16th March 2026.
The effect of the prohibition and restriction Order is to remove some existing sub-standard parking bays on the south side of Cottingham Road and provide an additional parking bay to maintain the current level of available on street parking space.
Additionally, “No Waiting At Any Time” restrictions will be introduced between the parking bays, thereby negating the need for the “H” Bar markings that have previously being used to separate parking bays in the area.
The purpose of the prohibition and restriction Order is to improve safety for persons accessing and egressing the public highway and for all road users in the immediate vicinity of the new arrangements.
The effect of the speed limit Order is to reduce the speed limits on lengths of Cottingham Road from 40mph to 30mph.
The purpose of the speed limit Order is to facilitate the safe passage on the road of any class of vehicle, including pedestrians.
A copy of the Orders and relevant maps may be examined during normal office hours at the Reception and Enquiries Office, The Guildhall, The Kingston upon Hull, reference JGO/39800-1516.
If you wish to question the validity of these Orders or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 10th March 2026, apply to the High court for this purpose.
DATED the 13th March 2026
Lisa Dixon, Assistant Director Legal Services and Governance
