What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS BARROW IN FURNESS LOCALITY) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.33) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs and when the temporary closures are in force.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 30th March 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 10 months only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

From its junction with Schneider Road, extending in a north easterly then south easterly direction for approx. 115m.

Alternative Route: via Schneider Road, Willow Road and Cedar Road.

3. Sycamore Grove, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/I/7532)

From its junction with Laburnum Crescent, extending in a south easterly then south westerly direction for approx. 170m.

Alternative Route: via Laburnum Crescent and Schneider Road.

4. Andreas Avenue, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/I/7554)

From its junction with Black Butts Lane, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 265m.

Alternative Route: via Millstone Avenue, Middlefield, Mill Barn, Chester Street and Ormsgill Lane and the unrestricted section of Park Road service road.

From its junction with Bank Lane, extending in a south westerly then southerly direction for approx. 660m.

Alternative Route: via Bank Lane, Park Road Service Road, Park Road and Mill Bank.

7. Hibbert Road, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/I/7700)

From its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 325m.

Alternative Route: via Abbey Road, West View Road and Rutland Street.

8. Abbots Vale, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/I/7702)

From its junction with Briggate Avenue, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 405m.

Alternative Route: via Briggate Avenue, Friars Lane and Holcroft Hill.

From its junction with Conway Gardens, extending in an overall south westerly direction for approx. 190m.

From its junction with Long Lane, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 600m.

From its junction with Brent Avenue, extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length.
