M275 MOTORWAY (M27 JUNCTION 12)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways
Limited has made an Order on the M275 Motorway in the Unitary Authority of the City of Portsmouth, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public following a parapet strike, and any mitigating works.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice NH/2026/E306 issued on 26th February (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 (a), Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to authorise a 24-hour
40mph speed restriction on:-
a) the northbound carriageway of the M275 between a point 700 metres north of the centreline of Junction 1 (Tipner Interchange) and its point of divergence into eastbound and westbound links to the M27; and
b) the link road connecting to the eastbound carriageway of the M27 between the point of divergence described in 1a) above to a point approximately 140 metres east of the centreline of the M27 westbound carriageway overbridge.
This measure is in the interests of road safety while the danger persists.
No specific date is yet known for any resolution of the problem owing to product availability, but is currently projected as mid-April.
The Order will come into force on 18th March 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. The temporary speed restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works period.
