Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A290 St Dunstans Street & St Peter’s Place, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Dunstans Street & St Peter’s Place, Canterbury from 16th March 2026 with estimated completion by 21st March 2026, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00, or until the works have been completed.
A290 St Dunstans Street & St Peter’s Place, Canterbury will be closed between the junctions with North Lane and Tower Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 St Dunstans Street, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A290 St Peter’s Place and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Alexandria Drive, Herne Bay, CT6 8DN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Alexandria Drive, Herne Bay from 18th March 2026, with estimated completion by 19th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 34, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Alexandria Drive, The Broadway, Grand Drive, Alexandria Drive and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bexley Street & Woodlawn Street, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bexley Street & Woodlawn Street, Whitstable from 16th March 2026, with estimated completion by 20th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
Bexley Street
The road will be closed between number 20 and The Old Police Station, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bexley Street, B2205 Harbour Street, Cromwell Road and Woodlawn Street.
The One-Way Order on Bexley Street will be suspended between the junctions with New Street and B2205 Harbour Street only, to allow for residential access.
Woodlawn Street
The road will be closed at the junction with Bexley Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodlawn Street, Cromwell Road and B2205 Harbour Street.
The One-Way Order on Woodlawn Street will be suspended to allow for residential access.
Gateacre Road, Seasalter. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Gateacre Road, Seasalter from 30th March 2026, with estimated completion by 13th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet from 22nd March 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Road, Wickhambreaux. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux from 22nd March 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from Oak Lees heading approximately 200m in a southerly direction to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, Wickham Road, Nargate Street, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, High Street, Preston Hill, Preston Road, The Street, Grove Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Hoath Road, Hoath, CT3 4JW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hoath Road, Hoath from 16th March 2026, with estimated completion by 19th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Lawrence Sons, Buckwell Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Babs Oak Hill, A28 Staines Hill, Island Road, The Glen, Nethergong Hill, Sandpit Hill, Church Lane, Boyden Gate Hill, Highstead, Ford Hill, Maypole Road, Hoath Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Iffin Lane, Thanington Without, CT4 7BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Iffin Lane, Thanington Without from 16th March 2026, with estimated completion by 17th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of High Banks, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Iffin Lane, Merton Lane, B2068 Nackington Road, Faussett Hill, Street End, Chartham Downs Road, Iffin Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kingsdown Park, Whitstable, CT5 2DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow kerb works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsdown Park, Whitstable from 16th March 2026 with estimated completion by 20th March 2026, between the hours of 09:30 and 14:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Northwood Road and Park Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Kingsdown Park, Northwood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mill Lane, Harbledown, CT2 8PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow remedial works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Harbledown from 16th March 2026, with estimated completion by 17th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of 38 Mill Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Orchard Street, Canterbury, CT2 7EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Orchard Street, Canterbury from 16th March 2026, with estimated completion by 20th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with St Dunstans Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A290 St Dunstans Street, London Road, New Street, Orchard Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
South Barham Hill, Barham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of South Barham Hill, Barham from 18th March 2026 with estimated completion by 19th March 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with South Barham Road heading 150m in a westerly direction, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via South Barham Hill, Redoak Lane, Straight Hill, Beach Villa Lane, Canterbury Road, Elham Valley Road, South Barham Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
South Street & Old Park Avenue, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of South Street & Old Park Avenue, Canterbury from 19th March 2026, with estimated completion by 1st July 2026, or until the works have been completed.
South Street
The road will be closed from 19th March 2026 with estimated completion by 1st April 2026, between numbers 44 and 13, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shelley Avenue, Dickens Avenue, Reed Avenue and vice versa.
Old Park Avenue
The road will be closed from 2nd April 2026 with estimated completion by 1st July 2026, between number 116 and Farm Foods, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Sturry Road, South Street, then follow diversion for South Street and vice versa.
St Georges Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2TL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Georges Lane, Canterbury from 23:45 hours on 19th March 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 20th March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Cycles UK, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Peter’s Grove & Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2026
To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Peter’s Grove & Black Griffin Lane, Canterbury from 21st March 2026, with estimated completion by 22nd March 2026, or until the works have been completed.
St Peter’s Grove will be closed between numbers 63 and 66, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via St Peter’s Grove, Tower Way and Black Griffin Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on St Peter’s Grove & Black Griffin Lane will be suspended for the duration of the works to allow two-way traffic.
