ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –
SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of Newton in the county of North Yorkshire:

[Public Bridleway 13 Newton (part of): (A-B-C)
No pedestrian, cyclist or horse-rider shall proceed along this bridleway commencing at Grid Reference SE 8136 9235 (Point A) on Hardigate Road, heading in a generally southerly direction for 118 metres to the junction with Public Footpath 22 Newton at Grid Reference SE 8131 9226 (Point B) and then continuing in the same direction for a further 122 metres along Hardigate Road to Grid Reference SE 8126 9214 (Point C). A total distance of 240 metres.

Public Footpath 22 Newton (part of): (B-D)
No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference SE 8131 9226 (Point B), heading in a generally north-westerly direction for 455 metres to  Grid Reference SE 8093 9249 (Point D).

Alternative route for pedestrians: (A-D-E-G-C)
Pedestrians can proceed along this route from Grid Reference SE 8136 9235 (Point A) along a track in a generally westerly direction to the junction with Public Footpath 22 Newton at Grid Reference SE 8093 9249 (Point D), then continues in the same direction along the track to the junction with Public Footpath 133 Stape at Grid Reference SE 8065 9244 (Point E), then turns to head in a generally south-easterly direction down this footpath through the trees, onto the track again at Grid Reference SE 8097 9229 (Point G), then turns to head in a generally easterly direction along the track to Grid Reference SE 8126 9214 (Point C). A total distance of 1,530 metres.

Alternative route for horse-riders & cyclists: (A-D-E-F-G-C)
Horse-riders and cyclists can proceed along this route from Grid Reference SE 8136 9235 (Point A) along a track in a generally westerly direction to the junction with Public Footpath 22 Newton at Grid Reference SE 8093 9249 (Point D), then continues in the same direction along the track to the junction with Public Footpath 133 Stape at Grid Reference SE 8065 9244 (Point E),then continues in the same direction along the track to Grid Reference SE 7985 9227 (Point F) where it turns to proceed in a generally easterly direction along the track to the junction with Public Footpath 133 Stape at Grid Reference SE 8097 9229 (Point G) and then finishes at the junction with Hardigate Road at Grid Reference SE 8126 9214 (Point C). A total distance of 3,195 metres.

The Order is necessary due to allow for a bridge to be replaced on Hardigate Road.

The closure takes effect from 1st March 2026 and will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
