What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Boscobel Avenue, Tipton)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Boscobel Avenue, which will be closed from the junction of Mayfair Gardens for 75 metres, including the cul-de-sac at the rear of property No’s 21 - 25 (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). Traffic will be diverted via Mayfair Gardens, Park Lane West, Brewery Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 20/04/2026 effective from 16/03/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for mineshaft probing and treatment works by Van Elle Specialist Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Galton Road, Smethwick)
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026
has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Galton Road, which will be closed at the following locations under phased works:-

Closed from the junction of Hagley Road West to the access (southern side) for the Dog Public House (16th March 2026). Traffic will be diverted via Hagley Road West (eastbound), Bearwood Road, St Marys Road, Upper St Marys Road, Barclay Road, Lightwoods Hill & vice versa. A further traffic diversion route will be signed via Hagley Road West (westbound), Beechwood Road, Lightwoods Hill & vice versa.

Closed from the junction of Lightwoods Hill to outside property No.19 (17th - 18th March 2026). Traffic will be diverted via Lightwoods Hill, Barclay Road, Upper St Marys Road & vice versa.

Closed between property No’s 213 & 263 (19th - 20th March 2026). Access to any affected frontages within each phase of the works will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Upper St Marys Road, Barclay Road, Abbey Road & vice versa.

The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 20/03/2026 (6pm), effective from 16/03/2026 (8am). Purpose – to facilitate access for traffic calming works by Bridge Construction Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Powis Avenue, Tipton)
(Temporary Road Closure & Right Turn Ban) Order 2026
has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Powis Avenue, which will be closed from south of its junction with Highfield Road to the northern boundary of property No.121 (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). Traffic will be diverted via Highfield Road, Cupfields Avenue & vice versa. A right turn ban will also be in place at the junction of Powis Avenue & Highfield Road for the duration of the Powis Avenue road closure. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 16/03/2026 (9:30am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for repair works by Severn Trent Water.
