Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: A) A345 (Part), Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its junction with C264 for a distance of approximately 500m in a northerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out excavate 10m of trench for a new supply and other associated works. Alternative route via A345 (unaffected length) – A4 – A361 – A342 – A345 (unaffected length) and vice versa. B) Footpath 13 (Part), Latton; from its junction with C69 for a distance of approximately 255m in a northerly direction to enable path construction. The existing path will be raised to an elevation to prevent flooding. The path will be constructed using aggregates between timbers. The topping will be limestone rolled to provide a flat, wheelchair accessible surface. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 01 April 2026 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required every Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 until 30 September 2026. On 24 February 2026, Wiltshire Council confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed will divert Footpaths Luckington and Alderton 20 situated at Sandy Farm, Sopworth. The entire width of Luckington and Alderton 20 will be diverted from OSGR ST 8350-8561, in a broadly north easterly direction to OSGR ST 8368-8571 and continuing in an east north easterly direction to OSGR ST 8373-8573, a distance of approximately 265m. Also, that entire width and length of Luckington and Alderton 21 shown leading from OSGR ST 8355-8580, in a broadly south easterly direction for approximately 171m to OSGR ST 8368-8571. Also, that entire width and length of Sherston 43 shown leading from at OSGR ST 8373-8573, in a broadly north easterly direction for approximately 72m to OSGR ST 8377-8578. To a new route, Luckington and Alderton 21, leading from OSGR ST 8355-8580 in a broadly westerly direction for approximately 55m, then continuing in a broadly southerly direction approximately 180m to OSGR ST 8350-8561, the path having a width of 2m. And thereupon the Malmesbury Rural District Council Area Definitive Map dated 1952 shall be modified accordingly.
