What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TROWLEY BOTTOM/ PIETLEY HILL, FLAMSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Trowley Bottom/ Pietley Hill, Flamstead from its junction with Trowley Hill Road north westwards, north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Mill Lane, a distance of approximately 535m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Wood End Lane, Markyate Street Lane, Valley Lane and Pietley Hill.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 27 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads. (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON CHAFFINCHES GREEN, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chaffinches Green, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Market Oak Lane south westwards and north westwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MISWELL LANE, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Miswell Lane, Tring from a point 82m south east of its junction with B488 Icknield Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Miswell Lane, B488 Icknield Way, B4635 (Aylesbury Road/Western Road) and Miswell Lane. The Order is needed because foul drainage connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 30 March 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON FAVERSHAM CLOSE, TRING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Faversham Close, Tring from a point in line with the north western boundary of No.26 Faversham Close south eastwards and south westwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GRAVEL PATH, BERKHAMSTED)  ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Gravel Path, Berkhamsted from its junction with Ellesmere Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m (“the Road”). An alternative route will be via Gravel Path, Ravens Lane, A4251

(High Street/London Road), A4146 (Station Road/Leighton Buzzard Road), B440 Leighton Buzzard Road, Potten End Hill, Water End Road, The Common and Gravel Path.

The Order is needed because pavement excavation works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 30 March 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS AND FOOTPATH IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and footpath (“the Footpath”) will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of Roads, except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at anytime on both sides of these lengths of Roads, whilst works are in progress:-

a)   that length of Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its northernmost junction with Barnacres Road south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 124m.

An alternative route will be via Barnacres Road and Hill Common.

b)   the road situated on the north west side of No.1 Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Hill Common north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. 2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath fronting Nos.9-19 Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead from its northernmost junction with Hill Common south eastwards for a distance of approximately 36m. There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads and Footpath.

The Order will come into effect on 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN BERKHAMSTED, BOURNE END AND HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-

1.   that length of A4251 High Street, Berkhamsted/A4251 London Road, Berkhamsted/ Bourne End from its junction with A416 Kings Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 4025m.

An alternative route will be via A4251 (High Street/Gossoms End/High Street/Tring Road) and A41 (unnamed road).

2.   that length of A4147 Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with the A4147 Swallowdale Lane roundabout south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with the A414 St Albans Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 1566m. An alternative route will be via A4147 (Redbourn Road/Link Road), A4146 Leighton Buzzard Road and A414 St Albans Road. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 11 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON HEMPSTEAD LANE, POTTEN END/BERKHAMSTED ROAD,

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hempstead Lane, Potten End/Berkhamsted Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with The Common south eastwards, eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Pouchen End Lane, a distance of approximately 1175m (“the length of Roads”), except for access. An alternative route will be via The Common, Waterend Road, Potten End Hill, B440 Leighton Buzzard Road, Galley Hill, Boxted Road and Berkhamsted Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 40 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FLAUNDEN LANE, BOVINGDON) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Flaunden Lane, Bovingdon from its junction with Chipperfield Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 300m (“the Road”), except for access. An alternative route will be via Chipperfield Road, High Street, B4505 (Hempstead Road/ Box Lane), A4251 London Road, Featherbed Lane and Flaunden Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 April 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Nettleden Road, Frithsden from a point in line with the north eastern boundary of ‘Ambury’ north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Nettleden Road, Gravel Path, Station Road,

Lower Kings Road, A4251 (High Street/Gossoms End/High Street), B4506 (New Road/Ringshall Road), Nettleden Road North and Nettleden Road. The Order is needed because tree maintenance works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 11 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pouchen End Lane, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Fields End Lane south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 330m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Fields End Lane, Boxted Road, Warners End Road, Northridge Way, Fishery Road, A4251 London Road, Winkwell and Pouchen End Lane.

The Order is needed because utility maintenance works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Flaunden Lane, Felden from a point 200m south west of its junction with Featherbed Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 600m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Flaunden Lane, Felden Lane, A4251 London Road, B4505 (Box Lane/Hempstead Road), High Street, Chipperfield Road and Flaunden Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1.   that length of Flaunden (Black Ditch Lane), Flaunden from its junction with Birch Lane north eastwards to its junction with Black Robins Lane, a distance of approximately 458m.

An alternative route will be via Birch Lane and Black Robins Lane.

2.     that length of Birch Lane, Flaunden from its junction with Flaunden (Black Ditch Lane) north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Black Robins Lane, a distance of approximately 459m. An alternative route will be via Flaunden (Black Ditch Lane) and Black Robins Lane.

3.   that length of Botley Road, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Shenley Road south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 178m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works. 4. that length of Apollo Way, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Jupiter Drive westwards to its junction with Neptune Drive, a distance of approximately 133m.

An alternative route will be via Jupiter Drive and Neptune Drive. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. ROAD HUMP NOTICE (CHAMBERSBURY LANE, 

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under sections 90A - 90F of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with The Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999, to install flat topped road humps in those lengths of Chambersbury Lane, Hemel Hempstead as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. From a point in line with the boundary between Nos. 7 and 8 Autumn Glades south westwards for 9 metres.

From a point 11.67 metres north east of a point in line with the boundary between Nos. 69 and 70 Autumn Glades north eastwards for 9 metres. The flat topped road humps would be constructed at a height of approximately 75mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:20.
