What is happening?

WIGAN COUNCIL

Alker Street, Wigan – Temporary Closure Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Alker Street, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Alker Street, Wigan on 21st April 2026 between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm.

The alternative route for traffic is: Argyle Street. The Order is necessary to allow replacement of frame and cover.

Ruabon Crescent, Hindley Green – Temporary Closure

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Ruabon Crescent, Hindley Green) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Ruabon Crescent, Hindley Green on 20th April 2026 until 24th April 2026.

The alternative route for traffic is: Longhurst Road. The Order is necessary to allow electricity cable installation.

Bus Lane on Wigan Lane, Wigan – Temporary Closure

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Bus Lane on Wigan Lane, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 25th March 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in the bus lane on Wigan Lane, Wigan on 25th March 2026 until 27th March 2026.

Please note there will be no diversion in place – Bus lane closure only.

The Order is necessary to allow new water connection.

Repton Avenue, Ince – Temporary Closure

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Repton Avenue, Ince) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 3rd April 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Repton Avenue, Ince on 3rd April 2026 until 19th April 2026. The alternative route for traffic is: Warrington Road – Darnhall Street – Derby Street. The Order is necessary to allow gas main replacement scheme.

Duke Street, Wigan – Temporary Closure Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Duke Street, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 7th April 2026. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Duke Street, Wigan on 7th April 2026 between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm.

Access will be maintained for residents where possible.

The Order is necessary to allow replacement of frame and cover.

Robin Hill Lane,

Standish – Temporary Closure

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Robin Hill Lane, Standish) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 7th April 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Robin Hill Lane, Standish from 7th April 2026 until 24th April 2026.

Access will be maintained for residents where possible.

The Order is necessary to allow electricity cable installation.

Ince Green Lane, Ince – Revocation of Prohibtion of Stopping at School Entrances Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough

Council, in exercise of the powers under Section

1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.628) Order 2026. The effect of the Order will be to revoke the stopping at school entrances on:

•  Ince Green Lane, Ince (South East) from a point 69 metres north east of its junction with Leaway for a distance of 31.56 metres in a north easterly direction.

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait for the removal of any obstruction to traffic; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances (liveried vehicle); roads works and works by statutory undertakers; or for repairs of any sewer, main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water electricity or any telecommunication apparatus as defined in the Telecommunications Act 1984.

The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the

Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.

Ince Green Lane, Ince – Proposed Zebra Crossing

Notice of Intent

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough

Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has resolved to introduce a zebra crossing on the following street:

•  Ince Green Lane, Ince from a point 30 metres northeast of its junction with Herber Street for a distance of 2.4 metres.

A copy of the map showing the respective position of the proposed Zebra pedestrian crossing will be available to view at https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Resident/ParkingRoads-Travel/Roads/Traffic-regs-orders.aspx or will be available upon request by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk
