The 2017 Order will be varied by the attachment of plans similar to those used in this consultation and which identify the roads or sides of road to which the prohibitions and restrictions affect.

This Variation shall come into operation on 6th March 2026.

The lengths of roads fall within the All Saints Ward & College Ward within the Cheltenham Borough in the County of Gloucestershire. 

The usual exemptions will apply to Statutory Undertakers and Local Authority vehicles carrying out duties in exercise of their statutory powers, and also in the case of emergency services vehicles and disabled person’s vehicles.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Variation or any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the ground that any requirement to that Act or any Statutory Instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Variation may within six weeks of the date on which the Variation is made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE U40360 STOCKWELL LANE (WOODMANCOTE PARISH) TEWKESBURY BOROUGH

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the U40360 Stockwell Lane fr om its junction with New Road to its junction with Beverley Gardens for a distance of approximately 182 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for underground fibre cabling works.

The said road is expected to be closed on between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs on 23rd March 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the A38 Cole Avenue/ Southern Avenue from its junction with Podsmead Road to its junction with St Barnabus roundabout for a distance of approximately 1 kilometre.

The reason for the said closure is for bridge repair works.

The said road is expected to be closed each night between 21:00hrs and 06:00hrs from 22nd March 2026 until 27th March 2026 only. 

However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

The reason for the said closure is for pole replacement works.

The said road is expected to be closed between 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs on 26th March 2026 only.

The reason for the said closure is for carriageway maintenance works.

The said road is expected to be closed from 23rd March 2026 until 26th March 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

The said road is expected to be closed from 19:00hrs on 26th March 2026 until 06:00hrs on 27th March 2026 only or until the said works have been completed.

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF C9009 ST GEORGE’S PLACE 
(LANSDOWN WARD) CHELTENHAM BOROUGH

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily restrict part of the C9009 St George’s Place from its junction with Chester Walk on the East side of St George’s Place continuing to the end of cul-de-sac then down to the Junction with Jenner Walk on the West side for a distance of approximately 150 metres.

The reason for this restriction is for reasons of public safety.

The restriction is that there will be no waiting permitted throughout the timescale set out below. 

The said road is expected to be restricted from 22nd March 2026 until 22nd September 2027.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the footways as detailed in the Schedule below.

SCHEDULE

The reason for the said closures is for footway resurfacing works.

The said footways are expected to be closed on a rolling programme, commencing 8:00hrs on 23rd March 2026, where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the said closures are in force. 

Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the said closures taking effect. 

This intended Order may permit the said closures in any order, or simultaneously, as required, and it is anticipated all works will be completed by 16:00hrs on 10th April 2026.

The said road is expected to be closed on from 25th March 2026 until 27th March 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.
