HYSBYSIR drwy hyn fod Cyngor Dinas Casnewydd wrth arfer ei bwerau dan Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 (fel y’i diwygiwyd) a’r holl bwerau galluogi eraill, wedi gwneud gorchymyn a fydd yn gorfodi’r hyn a ddisgrifir yn Rhanau 1, 2, 3 a 4 o’r Atodlen isod:

Y rheswm dros wneud y gorchymyn yw i wneud gwaith gosod ac atgyweirio arwyneb ffordd newydd.

Er mwyn lleihau tarfu, dim ond dros nos y bydd y ffyrdd ar gau a nodir yn yr atodlen isod neu ddydd Sul a bydd y gwaith yn cael ei gynnal mewn camau fel y nodir isod.

NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL

(BASSALEG ROUNDABOUT & A467, NEWPORT)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Newport City Council in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and all other enabling powers has made an order the effect of which is as described in the Schedule in Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 below.

The reason for making the order is for resurfacing and repair works.

To minimise disruption, the roads closures set out in the below schedule will only be closed overnight or Sundays and will be carried out in phases as indicated below.

The order will come into operation on 2nd March 2026 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. Emergency vehicle access and pedestrian access will be available. The order and maps showing the affected roads can be requested by emailing conveyancing.team@newport.gov.uk.

SCHEDULE

Part 1 – Prohibition of Traffic

Bassaleg Roundabout

Phase 1 – Between the hours of 20:00 – 05:00

• The northbound approach from Forge Road (Forge Road northbound from junction 28 to Bassaleg Roundabout)

• The Court Crescent junction (full closure at its access to the roundabout)

• The A468 Caerphilly Road arm (western approach to/from the roundabout)

• The northbound exit onto the A467 (from the roundabout to the Chartist Drive slip road)

The closed area will cover all connecting carriageways between these arms and the western semicircle of the roundabout itself.

Alternative Routes: A468 Caerphilly Road, Commercial Road, Wesley Hill, Newport Road, Bedwas Road, A469, Main Road, A472, A467 or A467, A472, Hafod-Yr-Ynys Road, A4042, Croesyceiliog Bypass, Turnpike Road, A4042, Heidenheim, Usk Way, SDR

Phase 2 – Between the hours of 20:00 – 05:00

• The southbound approach from A467 (from the Chartist Drive slip road to the roundabout)

• The Park View junction (full closure at its access to the roundabout to number 38 Park View)

• The southbound exit from Forge Road (Forge road southbound from Bassaleg roundabout to Junction 28)

The closed area will cover all connecting carriageways between these arms and the Eastern semicircle of the roundabout itself.

Phase 4 – Consecutive Sundays between 08:00 – 17:00

A468 Caerphilly Road from Bassaleg roundabout to the Tredegar Arms mini roundabout.
