What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION
OF THROUGH TRAFFIC
PART OF YORK ROAD, MARKET WEIGHTON

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the date
of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which will
be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Part
of York Road, Market Weighton between 08.00 hours
until 17.00 hours starting at the junction to Giant
Bradley Way commencing 16 March 2026 to allow for
maintenance works on behalf of Northern Gas.
The road closure is necessary to enable the works to
be carried out in a manner consistent with ensuring the
safety of the public. The Order is valid for 18 months,
but it is anticipated that the works will be completed
within 37 days. The alternative route for traffic affected
by the road closure will be via York Road, Giant Bradley
Way and Red House Lane, Market Weighton CP, Wolds
Weighton Ward. The diversion route will be signed at
the time of closure. The road will be closed to all traffic
but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
