(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (No.2) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 2nd March 2026 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 11th March 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Anticipated dates of works are 11th March 2026 to 20th March 2026. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to impose temporary No Waiting and No Loading restrictions on the following roads and lengths of roads: Alder Crescent for a distance of 15 metres in either direction from its junction with Broad Mead and its junction with High Mead, Beresford Road the whole length, Bishopscote Road from its traffic light junction with Denbigh Road/Montrose Avenue/Woodland Avenue to its junction with Rondini Avenue, Broad Mead for a distance of 15 metres in a southerly direction from its junction with Alder Crescent, Chatsworth Road the whole length, Churchill Road the whole length, Cowper Street from its junction with Strathmore Avenue for a distance of 25 metres in a northerly direction, Dunstable Road from its junction with Shaftesbury Road to its junction with Churchill Road, Durbar Road the whole length, High Mead for a distance of 15 metres in a southerly direction from its junction with Alder Crescent, Highfield Road the whole length, Medina Road the whole length, Portland Road the whole length, Roman Road from its junction with Beechwood Road to its junction with Chester Avenue, Selbourne Road from its junction with Conway Road to its junction with Lincoln Road, Shaftesbury Road the whole length, Strathmore Avenue for a distance of 20 metres in either direction from its junction with Cowper Street, The Meads from its junction with Leagrave Road to a point outside the boundary of property No’s 6/8 The Meads.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway maintence works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the No Waiting and No Loading restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out.
