What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
THE MILE, POCKLINGTON
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the
effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing
any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding on foot/
whether on foot, pedal cycle or on horseback along
The Mile, Pocklington.
Section 1 - 2 March 2026 until 1 May 2026
The Mile - STARTING at: The Mile Roundabout and
ENDING at: The junction with Meltonby Road.
Section 2 - 4 May 2026 until 3 July 2026.
The Mile and includes part of Millers Lane STARTING
at: Meltonby Road ENDING at: Swineridge Lane.
Section 3 - 20 July 2026 until 10 August 2026 and
includes part of Kirkland Street STARTING at:
The Mile Roundabout and ENDING at:
Chapmangate/Bridge Street.
The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed
The Mile, Pocklington works to be carried out and
completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the
safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will
be completed within 61 days. The alternative route
for traffic affected by the Order is via Meltonby Road,
Meltonby Lane, Main Street, Yapham Road and
Garths End, Yapham CP, Pocklington CP, Pocklington
Provincial Ward, Wolds Weighton Ward.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but remain
open at all times to pedestrians and for vehicular access
to properties directly affected by the closure and for
emergency services. The Order will commence
2 March 2026 and continue in force for a period not
exceeding eighteen months or until the works which
it is proposed to carry out have been completed,
whichever is the earlier. Further information can
